View Full Version : "How many identities" removed
I have deleted the "How many identities" thread. It has gotten out of hand. This site is designed to give Villagers their say without hindrance from any outside source.
We think we have achieved that, but we see this thread as counter productive. It has descended to apparent personal attacks and we don't want that. If you want to take somebody to task personally, there are private means to do that.
We want all members to be comfortable and not be reluctant to post. This thread does not achieve that goal. This site is intended to let us all hear from anyone who wants to post unless it gets personal.
Describing how far we will let it go is difficult, but I think the preponderance of us can recognize when it has gone too far. The administrators have seen another forum, unrelated to Talk of The Villages, collapse because of this kind of posting. We will not let it happen here.
I hope you understand and agree.

Tony said, "The administrators have seen another forum, unrelated to Talk of The Villages, collapse because of this kind of posting."
I have no idea what the subject thread was about but I ,too, have seen forums suffer from the lack of control by the admins.
And I say, "Thanks Tony". I have participated in numerous forums and this one is by far the best.

I had never been a part of a board before I showed up here last winter. And it took me a little while to begin to do any writing. Now I can't seem to stop. I watched this place for awhile, until it felt OK. When it did, I started to participate. And I am still here. It's a nice place.
Thanks admins, I know it can't be easy to keep up with all this and make those calls. And now, we are growing by leaps and bounds.

Thanks Tony, good decision, but maybe someday you can explain it to me.... I didn't understand that thread at all.
But you know that I don't like contentious and attacking type posts, so if this was heading that way, I thank you.

Here's what I don't understand!!!!! Why is Tony getting all the credit? :(
We drew straws to see who was going to have to pull that thread and Tony lost. The least somebody could do is blame him a little.

Hey, I just wrote something in the hibiscus thread and I need help.
I know not too many people are going to look at a thread called "Hibiscus recovery from freeze" today. But I stuck it in there anyway. At least the hibiscus part matched.
And I know lots of people will look in this thread we are in now.
And I know I am in Ohio trying to grow a Florida plant. But we Buckeyes do that in summer sometimes.
So I guess this is kind of an ad. I hope I don't have to pay TH.
But if you are a gardener and have some time to read the sad tale of my poor hibiscus, please let me know if you have any ideas.
Oh no. Now TH will not only try to make me send him money, I will also be in trouble for going off topic. But that never stops me.
So please, if you can, help me help my hibiscus. Thanks.

have we now turned on tony? instead of a hero , he's now a bum??
BOOOOO tony BOOOOO
LOLOL
Now? What to you mean now? I've always been!
However, I did see, and pull, another thread here about the pulling of the original thread. Follow that? In it some ladies were referring to that original pulled thread receiving a Tony Award.
I compliment them on the description, and I kinda like it. A Tony Award. So it will come to pass that any thread that is pulled got a Tony Award. I'm thinking of copyrighting it.

Okay Noni..Tell me if ya understand this.. :o
Tony and Jan pulled straws to see who would pull the thread that talked about the thread that was pulled..Jan won the thread pull, ..so..he pulled the thread That tony got credit for pulling..Tony got the Tony for thread pulling, and Jan is out in the cold..Go figure!
.... In any event, the thread that was supposed to be pulled, has been pulled and this thread will also be pulled if we all don't stop!!!

Being new to TOTV, I'm still playing catch-up. So even though this isn't very timely there is something I must mention. My mother always told me to never pull a thread; always cut it with scissors, dear. Coco

I think TOTV should buy a piece of land and make a great big mud pit.
And when folks get into it, it gets settled in the mud and not on the forum.
I'd buy a ticket to watch, especially if it's the girls.
