I'm sure there are a few of us that lived and remember when the blacks burnt Hough in Cleveland. That is a section on the east side of Cleveland pronounced
(Huff) I don't understand, and you can condemn me for this, why does the black community always feel the need to destroy something when they feel an injustice has been committed. I'm sorry but they just make matters worse for themselves. When Hough was burnt the fire dept. would not even go in to put out fires. There was 275 fires at that time 10 people were killed and many injured. Will this play out all over America. Why is it that the U. S. as advanced as we are continue to back up and relive history. Do we blame the current president and his administration do we blame the blacks or do we blame the police in this case? This is just something to think about comment if you wish but just think of what can we do to not repeat this again in the future. Hopefully this all stops soon otherwise I see the potential for martial law to be imposed in certain areas and then we do have a mess. Hilary made a statement some time back (never let a good crisis go to waste) may not be exact but you get my point. Lets not forget yesterday but lets not live it again. I don't have the answer, wish I did.

I do not remember the Hough riots. That was during the civil rights struggles of the USA in which many terrible events happened.

The current civil unrest in Baltimore could have been prevented by immediate response of the police taking responsibility for the death of Freddie Gray. His spine was severed during the arrest time and when he arrived at a hospital. That is fact. Instead, the police stonewalled the situation and the community thought the same thing as what happened in Ferguson and Sanford would happen in Charm City.

Not to advocate the destruction as being what to do, one can certainly understand the feelings of the community.

To say it has to stop sorta implies it is an ongoing action. And I suppose ongoing is relative; once per year? once every 5 years?

What is different today? Not much in the attitudes of SOME blacks. The real game changer is the media. They can focus in on the size of a football field and present it as though it were a wholesale situation....when it is not or ever has been.

Another factor that has not changed is the number of the rioters who are not from the area and are shipped in the represent a cause of some political or special interest entity.

We also happen to have a black POTUS who does not know enough to not allow his race to enter into play in these incidents. He does not have the ability or the desire to rise above the fray as a good POTUS can do. Because like it or not he is invested. He is black.

And yes we should all fear martial law. Especially at the federal level because then Obama is entitled to a whole new set of rules at his disposal then. Including the delaying of elections!!!!!

The current situation with blacks and the daily rantings of racism and the police is a VERY MANIPULATED SITUATION.

The answer is obvious ... the black urban culture is dysfunctional.

While there is indeed a periodic problem of cops busting black kids heads etc, when the black population riots, loots and burns they primarily hurt themselves. I get so sad when I see this repeated. I applaud the honest black citizens who, for example, were out in Baltimore today cleaning up and so forth.

But, let's be real ... as long as the government subsidizes single motherhood, and penalizes fatherhood, this problem will never be solved. Also, if you want to think about it from a purely cynical but realistic political perspective, the liberal social polices of the Democrat party keep the urban blacks essentially in a state of subservient and modern bondage. It's necessary in order to keep winning 90% plus of the black vote.

Let me summarize it this way ... does anyone REALLY think Al Sharpton wants to see the racial divide closed? If it did, he would be out of business and bussing tables somewhere.

There are some people on this thread that appear to be unfamiliar with basic grammar, and distinguishing between the singular and plural

The Hough Riots were in 1966, the Watts Riots were in 1965. President was LBJ a Democrat from Texas. As I recall the media coverage was widespread on Watts and not as widespread for Hough. There were only local newspapers and three TV channels to overdose on coverage. I don't recall LBJ being blamed for either of those events.
Thanks to smartphones, the internet, and 24 hour news coverage it is possible to raise and feed paranoia from media overdose! It would be interesting if the truth of who looted and burned in Baltimore and why will ever get the same high level of media coverage. Not as interesting to the average viewer.
