Does anyone know why there are police at every entrance & exit at Spruce Creek (across from Walmart) checking every car entering & leaving? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

Have no idea but I wonder if the helicoptors flying overhead since 6:00 am are part of the same problem? Hopefully, the paper will tell us tomorrow if someone doesn't know before then.

Heard at the dog park that some of the Marion County people got reverse 911 calls. The authorities told them that they should stay in their homes this morning while this was going on. Evidently, they came to Doggie Doo Run Run though.

Yes. Just north of the Super Wal Mart on US 27/441. http://www.sprucecreekonline.com/HISTORY_OF_DEL_WEBB_SCG_CC.pdf

The subdivision across from Wal-Mart on 441 is Spruce Creek South which was built out about 15 years ago. Mostly site built 2 bedrooms homes with one 18 hole golf course, gated community.
Spruce Creek by Del Webb is about 5 miles North of Wal-Mart on 441. Built out about two years ago, gated with 36 holes of golf.

Interesting. Spruce Creek IS a fully gated community, yet that's where the robber went. Just proves that a truly gated community doesn't protect worth a damn. So, The Villages, with it's pretend "gated community" is fine after all.
I still like having the gates, as I think it gives the appearance to some dumb(er) crooks that it's a protected area.

5 member or more gang robbing one small coin store - must have been crowded in there.
Wonder where "by Wal-Mart on 441" the 4th suspect was cuffed?

Have to be on guard all over. No community is a safe haven and everyone should be aware of that. I know people here in TV who never lock their doors. They say nothing could ever happen here in TV. We are all safe here. They better wake up.

I still think a moat is the answer. Maybe with guard towers at the drawbridge?
