Freddy Gray was the victim of a homicide is now the official report. It has been reported on all the major networks. The report also cites he was illegally arrested.
Warrants have been issued for the six cops who were complicit in this event with charges from second degree murder down to assault. Their careers and pensions are gone, for sure.
The other prisoner in the paddy wagon at the time had been arrested for stealing a cigarette.
Great cops in Charm City, huh?

How about putting away your :censored: broad brush generalities away and be a little more specific for once.
Yes there are great cops in Baltimore as in all cities. And yes there are some FEW that are a problem of one sort or another....just like any other statistical group.
Save the BS by snapping back that is what you meant. Those of us here know better.
Just a nasty negative contrarian.

We can safely predict the arrest rate in many urban hellholes will plummet, and drug related crimes against the black underclass will increase to be followed by calls for more "investment"
Oh, I almost forgot ... we need more awareness too and more face time for the Sharpton Travelling Circus

The tone of your post seems to imply you have already convicted these cops and that the two arrestees were good upstanding citizens and should not have been engaged. I don't make light of a death but we are soon coming to a time when police officers will not engage. You can can stand on what side of that police line you want but I know I want my family behind it. If you believe we do not need police to keep society in check, you are sadly mistaken. There are a lot of people out there that would have no problem assaulting, stabbing, or shooting you, robbing your home, stealing your car and worse. If these six officiers have committed a homicide should not system be allowed to work.

Let's see, there were six officers who interacted with this victim. Of those six officers not a single one acted appropriately and all six have been charged with crimes. This is not a situation where one officer misbehaved and the other five attempted to correct his error, instead here is a simple interaction where every single cop failed in his or her duty, and the arrest was bogus as well. So painting with a broad brush might be appropriate to the circumstances in this case. And yes they are absolutely entitled to a vigorous defense. And I suspect they will all get off except for the failure to seat belt the victim, which is seemingly a very minor element of the charge. Our Supreme court has ruled that while I as a citizen am obligated to follow laws of which I am not aware "ignorance of the law is no excuse" they have done the exact opposite for cops. You know the group that is supposed to know the laws. Cops can act contrary to a law and that is ok as long as it was "in good faith".

You're right about that ... it's a thin blue line coupled with the reality that the veneer of civilization is likewise thin. In the last six years or so, it's gotten a lot thinner and steadily diminishing

As opposed to the manner in which Freddie Gray was arrested for no reason, and without probable cause, and then dies of injuries suffered in the van?
These six cops are still alive and will get their day in court, at taxpayer's expense.

And just how do you know what any of the 6 officers were doing or did or did not?
And just like reminding a little kid....how about you stop using the general condition language and inferences....if it was at all it was one or two or six....."cops" as you like to generalize.
The military has been emasculated to a point they are not allowed to engage when threatened.
Now we are treating the law enforcement is this country as if they are the bad guys. They are not. Eventually they will begin to play it safe and not enforce for fear of doing something that MAY displease somebody.
Let's all hope that you or none of the rest of us are getting the crap beat out of us and the law plays it safe to see how it turns out.
Let justice be served but stop bad mouthing those who are sworn to serve and protect us. And except for a small percentage of isloated cases that is what they do every day......

Freddie Gray should not have died in the manner he did.
But, let's also be clear ... Freddie Gray was a long time drug dealer with 20 or so arrests. His actions inflicted huge amounts of pain and dysfunction upon many members of the black underclass. Your heart does not bleed for them, the true victims, because they are invisible to you.

For as long as I can remember, Liberals have just never seemed to like cops. I guess it has something to do with their overall aversion to authority figures in general ... unless they're celebrities which seems to be the one exception.

Look at the arrest record and you will see that most of his arrests were for posession and sale of marijuana. This does not inflict huge amounts of pain and dysfunction on anyone.
He was not a stellar citizen but to sever his spine is going beyond the beyonds.

Apparently you chose to highlight a sentence as if it were somehow incorrect, the phrase

Are you arguing with my statement?

Burglary, distribution, sale of heroin ... etc. Plus, you have to assume he only got caught for a small number of the deals he did.
We already agree he did not deserve to die the way he did, but still seems to me you're blind (willfully or otherwise) to the pain he inflicts. Watch HBO's The Wire sometime and see how you feel about drug dealers.

The death has been ruled a homicide. His criminal record has nothing to do with that. If it is proven that Baltimore cops killed him, the cops deserve prison time.

I imagine somewhere in the judicial process the law will address intent. For some it is acceptable to state or accept the statement, the cops, all 6 of them killed the guy.
We can also say we know all 6 did not. And we can safely say there was no intent to kill.
What we should all be concerned about is fairness by those who may be intent to appear to be balancing the scale.
Telling cops to stand down.
Telling cops to not wear protective gear.
Waiving of the grand jury by a novice DA.
The crime de Le crime? Sharpton is promoting the policing of America be handled by the federal government....the DOJ no less where we have another rookie. Good call Al ......put the people in charge who cannot collect taxes from guys like you.
The race card game is now moving to a new level, driven by those who have a racial agenda.
And unfortunately Obama is playing the race game as well instead of being presidential.

We are in the process of eliminating selective law enforcement to appear as to not be profiling or picking on them.
No matter how much they get (not a negative) or improve, their leadership continues to exploit them as second class.
Their is no benefit for their leadership to show improvement.
The deck is unfortunately stacked against the black population ever feeling equal.....mostly by their own people and leaders who have everything to gain keeping them right where they are with little or no improvement.

The six cops have been released on bail.
Intent is NOT part of the equation. To be found guilty of manslaughter or depraved heart murder, intent is not necessary.
A couple of the cops most likely will be found guilty - as they are. None will be able to lead the life they previously led - sort of like George Zimmerman has found out since he killed Trayvon Martin.

On a related topic, what do people think will be the likely impact on the community of the six cops being charged, particularly in the way it was done (ie no grand jury)?
I think this is bullish for drug dealers, and they will enjoy more business free from harassment from the cops ... because most will simply pull back and become apathetic about enforcement. There will also predictably be more violence perpetrated upon a hapless and hopeless black underclass.
But, people will be "happy" the cops are charged. Sad for everyone. Welcome to the Blue State and Deep Blue City paradise ... this is what keeps Democrat politicians in business.

All six officers charged in Freddie Gray's death released on bail - Baltimore Sun (http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/crime/blog/bs-md-ci-what-is-next-for-officers-20150501-story.html)
Complete and utter bs regarding no grand jury. Where do you get your info? Please post a reputable link.
Here are the next steps for the police officers, summarized from today's Baltimore Sun.
(1) A city grand jury will decide whether to indict.
(2) If indicted, officers will have an arraignment at which time they can plead guilty or not guilty.
(3) If pleading not guilty, motions can be made before a judge, such as questions relating to evidence or change of venue
(4) Officers then have the option of a trial by jury or a trial by judge
And what will the reaction of the newly elected republican governor be to these "Blue State and Deep Blue City paradise" problems?
Read the article before continuing so spew this misinformation.

Baltimore's State Attorney Marilyn Mosby made the following public comment:
"To the people of Baltimore and the demonstrators across America, I have heard your call of 'no justice, no peace.' " Really??
I find it bothersome that a senior law enforcement official finds it necessary to play to the galleries and address the mob of demonstrators. Almost like she's saying ... does anyone have six pieces of rope we can borrow?
I also think it's likely she has her eye on future political office.

I was just reading the bio on Marilyn Mosby. She sounds like the very positive product the conservatives are always writing about. She is 35 years old, black, and from the inner city of Baltimore. She grew up in a home with mother and father - both police officers. She is an attorney with private business experience. She had a campaign to get crime off the street. Mosby is showing the Baltimore citizens she sees both sides of the problem and that the police will be held accountable if found guilty.
I would guess Maryland is going to see a lot more of Mosby in their state politics, even though they did recently elect a Republican governor.

Very impressive bio. I know what the inner city of Boston is like and it is impressive that a young woman from that background could pull herself up - with the help of a mom and dad who were both hard working police officers - to attain a position as Baltimore's State Attorney.
Good parenting on their part and shows what can be done.
She definitely is going places! Keep an eye on this up-and-coming political superstar.

I set aside her pedigree because in this racially liberal charged community she is not calling the shots. And if there is anyone naive enough to not recognize that Sharpton, Holder and Obama have a hand in this well there is this bridge............. Criminals are provided due process and a presumption of innocence. However these cops have already been tried found guilty and sentenced because liberals do not want attention brought to a blue city with so many apparent failures and that of its politically aspiring mayor.
Many people white black brown red have complained about cops unfairness from felons to mismeandors. I have never gotten a ticket for traffic violation that I thought was fair. No justice no peace.
The IRS unfairly treated Republican and Tea Party. No justice no peace.
four Americans died in Benghazi and no one has been held accountable. No justice no peace.

Given the aftermath of the Freddie Grays death, the city being burned, the cops being charged etc
Seems like we need to ask our liberal friends ...
- Just WHY is Baltimore so screwed up?
- Why is it a hellhole? Is it a model of liberal policy success?
- Would they really ever want to live there ?
Care to venture any serious analyses of the causal factors?

Alan Dershowitz Rips Charges Against Baltimore Cops: ‘Sad Day for Justice’ | Mediaite (http://www.mediaite.com/tv/alan-dershowitz-rips-charges-against-baltimore-cops-sad-day-for-justice/)
Well know liberal law professor Alan Dershowitz really went after Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby today for charging the six cops involved in the death of Freddie Gray, saying it was entirely based on politics and “crowd control.”
Dershowitz lamented that “this is a very sad day for justice” and told Steve Malzberg that Mosby acted out of a “desire to prevent riots.” It will be “virtually impossible,” he predicted, for the six officers involved to get a fair trial.
And as for murder charges, Dershowitz said there’s “no plausible, hypothetical, conceivable case for murder” and “this is a show trial.” He predicted that Mosby might get removed as prosecutor and Baltimore citizens may get upset if and/or when they “move to a place with a different demographic.”
He concluded that it’s “unlikely they’ll get any convictions in this case” and if they do they’ll likely “be reversed on appeal.”

Alan Dershowitz is not privy to the police report that was released to the DA on Thursday or to the DA's investigator's report, so knows no more than what has been reported in the press. As a law professor, he should have more confidence in the judicial system and allow these cases to work their way through the courts.

Dear Guest
The deserter,Bergdahl and his family received celebrity treatment from Obama, and his parents invited to the White House rose Garden while honorable men and women have been ignored . No justice no peace.
The creeping Clintons have been selling access to America for some time making them multi-millionaires and have not been brought to answer said charges. No justice no peace............................................. ..............
Personal Best Regards:
In other words, I do not care what was written about Marilyn Mosby but I have my own agenda and I am going to speak it no matter how stupid I appear to people that actually think.

Let me translate your response ...
Instead of asking yourself whether this case is a railroad job against the cops and playing to the mob, you're upset with him because he apparently breaks with the liberal orthodoxy. In other words, he's a heretic?

Dershowitz is a defense attorney. It is his job to see all defendants as innocent, see Simpson, OJ as an example.

According to the Fox News site, their commentary says the cops heard Gray say he could not breathe but did nothing to help, they failed to buckle him in the van, and most likely gave him the "rough ride" to shake him up. Manslaughter means a death occurred but was not intended.
Do I hear a plea bargain in the near future?

"...most likely..."
According to who or what?

Although you should be competent enough to do your own research, read what Gretchen Carlson wrote and it is not a long stretch to the rough ride scenario.
If there were two other similar situations in Baltimore police vans, the inference is definitely there.

The Freddie Gray family is going to collect millions of Baltimore City dollars for this homicide.

I was very surprised to read the Gretchen Carlson opinion that paddy wagons should have cameras inside of them to monitor what happened during the transport of the arrestee.
It seems as though Baltimore had one "rough ride" in which the arrestee was paralyzed as a parapelegic and another "rough ride" where the prisoner became a quadripeligic.
The camera would be able to see how injuries were caused - as the Baltimore cops first tried saying that Freddie Gray did this to himself.

He's a Harvard Law Professor, and one of the acknowledged experts in the field. You know you can't simply dismiss his points by saying what you did ... even you though you gave it a good try.
This is turning into a politically motivated prosecution, by a politically ambitious prosecutor, and for which there is no legal merit for the various charges. 2nd degree murder ... are you kidding???
I'm not saying some of the cops involved are without some level of culpability, but this is becoming a lynch mob to satiate the excitable underclass, along with guilt stricken liberals too I guess.

Every time we hear a politician arguing for "more investment" in the inner city, we might want to reread this article ...it's entitled "Why couldn’t $130 million transform one of Baltimore’s poorest places?"
Why couldn (http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/why-couldnt-130-million-transform-one-of-baltimores-poorest-places/2015/05/02/0467ab06-f034-11e4-a55f-38924fca94f9_story.html)

---------------------
2nd degree murder is too much of a charge. It implies that there was intent to kill.
Manslaughter is the probable charge as there does not have to be intent to kill - just that someone was killed.
There are lots of other charges that will be filed but manslaughter is the most serious that can bring prison time and for a cop, prison time is not fun.

One report I heard on CNN indicated that there was a camera in the van but that it had been broken for quite a while and was in need of repair .

Homicide is the taking the life of someone at the hands of another. It's not always illegal, self-defense, justifiable, etc.

Sounds like social justice, over blind justice, mixed with political ambition
