Florida sales tax is 6+% ? Do they have a no tax week for back to school?

I have heard that some states have a no sales tax week for parents and grandparents to outfit children for back to school. We don't here in Ohio .

I like to shop for things for and with my grandchildren and I was wondering if that happens here?

Gracie,

Florida's base sales tax is 6% and there are additional taxes added by the various counties. In Leon County the tax is 7 1/2 %. In past years there has been about a ten day period where school clothes/supplies were tax free. However there is no break this year due to the revenue shortfall in the state. State budgets were cut severely in 2007-08 with more cuts expected in 2008-09.
