Someone must have really been desperate for a mother's day gift. Wow!

A neighbor has a couple of cement pots of flowers at either side of the end of his driveway and I had to stop the 'garbage picker' from loading them into his vehicle a couple weeks ago. I am amazed at the thieves amongst us!

Wow, seriously? I would find that really strange. .......I'm not saying I don't believe you...just I can't imagine anyone taking something right off your porch. Are you sure that someone else might not have moved it??

Wow. This is appalling. So much has changed in the 3 years since moving here. Hope it does not get out that we have so many burglaries and thieves among us. Our property values might suffer.Disney land for seniors-Not.

It happens. I was working at home once in MI, and a white SUV backed into our condo building's driveway. The guy got out of the car, went around to our front door (which was actually the side of the building) and came back around with one of our lawn chairs. Opened the back of the SUV, threw it in the back, and drove away. I watched the whole thing. He did not look like a guy I wanted to take on for a webbed lawn chair.

Figured it was a fisherman over at the beach who needed a chair. At least he took the broken one!

It is very possible. There was a thread on TOTV about a lady who had her luggage and purse on the driveway while waiting for her taxi. She remembered something and ran inside (bathroom?) and when she returned the luggage was gone. I don't remember if it was garbage day. I'm beginning to think there are low life's who cruise TV looking for an opportunity to steal especially after reading about golf carts being taken as well as items from garages and all this happening in broad daylight. Since the advent of the online newspaper I've come to understand that we are sitting ducks and far too trusting.

Also, leaving a pet in a cart while the owner runs an errand is asking for trouble. IMHO.

I remember that thread very well. It was garbage day that the woman left her suitcase at the end of the driveway. She went inside for about 20 minutes and the suitcase was gone when she came back outside. It was never determined if the garbageman took it or if it was a picker.

Sure, pickers come through on garbage days looking for things at the end of driveways. If it is truly trash, I have no problem with it. I put an old television set outside at the end of my drive and 40 minutes later, it was gone.

If anyone leaves something at the end of their drive, you had better be sure you want it gone as it will be gone.

I know exactly which neighbor blueeagle65 referenced and it is very obvious that those planters are NOT trash or out for the 'pickers'.

Some of these 'trash pickers' have a lot of 'unchecked nerve' to put it nicely.:censored: I had some items out for one of the charity pickups, clearly marked, and just outside my garage door........NOT at the end of the driveway. Someone came up, took what they wanted, and left the rest. That is just plain STEALING. I now get up early, place the items on the porch, and watch them until the truck comes. I would strongly suggest the thieves not set foot there. I most definitely will call and file charges for trespass!

They are going to pick the wrong house one of these days...I can sense it coming.

People are getting really fed up with these thieves.

That is pretty nervy to do that.

After reading your credentials I wouldn't think if the guy knew
He would mess with you again!

The Villages is still one of the safest places you could find to live. A few break-ins which are most likely done by landscape/mowing people who watch a person leave the house.

No home invasions, no violent crime, or gunplay.

Use common sense and normal precautions and you will not be bothered.

Are you serious? What sheltered Pollyanna world do you live in? Anytime you put 75k to 100k people in 32 sq. miles, and have other towns nearby, there are going to be some low life street trash cruising our Villages looking for the opportunity to steal something. WAKE UP.

I hope your wife liked her Mothers Day gift you S. O.B.! Some people confuse liberty with license....I was stationed at NAS Glynco in 1970. Back then it was a training center for air traffic control
