We are thinking about an escorted land tour of Italy this year and are wondering if anyone has any experience with trusted travel agents in our area.

Wendy and her crew at Ocala Travel are great! Her mother had the agency before her, and they are very trustworthy and good to work with. Not always the cheapest, but worth it.

Debbie Sobieleski at AAA on 441 has been our agent for years. I highly recommend her for any type of trip!!!!

We love Ron Kaisling at AAA. Heading off to Rome, Florence and Venice this fall on a train trip with guide. Fabulous itinerary. Ron has traveled to Italy many, many times.

AAA is good.
Legendary Journey should be avoided.

Theresa Odom at Expedia Cruise Ship Center did a great job for me on a land tour. Her office is located in a new building across the side street from Walmart on 466. Also, i made my own arrangements this year with Grand Circle Travel, which does not use travel agents, and enjoyed two marvelous trips back to back...if you plan to use them please pm me and i will give you my referral number which gets you $100 each off a trip and of course also helps me build up referras toward a free trip :) They also do Overseas Adventure Travel for small groups and river cruise trips.
My wife and I went on an escorted bus tour two years ago with Gate1travel.com -- it was flawless. Greatest trip ever. We did the 11 day Romantic Italy -- From Lake Como to Venice to Florence to Rome -- also you can add Sorrento.

We travel quite a bit, we cruise a lot and also do independent land tours. Have spent time in Villa's in Tuscany, driven many miles through France, Holland, Italy, etc. We finally decided to take a land tour with a Company for the first time. We took an 8 day CIE bus tour in Ireland. It was not good. Boring, many of days spent on the bus and targeted places to stop. I think if we ever took another land tour I would want to know how many hours each day on bus, the stops and the hotels etc. I will say the hotel's on the CIE tour were fine but the hours on the bus and not too good tours were disappointing.

My husband and I took the Tauck "Classic Italy" tour last October. It was booked thru AAA. We used Kathryn at the Lake Sumter office. It was the best vacation we ever took. First class all the way and the weather was perfect, 75-80 degrees.
