Does anyone understand why the Resident Lane Entrance to The Village of Charlotte (just off the roundabout at Hillsborough and Morse) is functioning when the equipment to read your gate pass is missing? The stand for the card reader is there with cutouts for the equipment but they are just empty holes. It is comical watching people flash their card at nothing and the gate goes up (apparently set to go up at sensing a car there) like exit gates. Don't know why they bothered to put the gates down without replacing (the equipment use to be there before something smashed into it) the card reader.

They are trying to get people in the habit of stopping for the gate.

Charlotte is also a construction area and since the gates are for traffic control to integrate vehicles and golf carts. Having the gates sensored probably facilitates that. Golf cart traffic has increased since more people live in the area. Just my opinion.

When our neighborhood was being built, both resident and visitors gates opened automatically without a card. it's for the convenience of the many construction vehicles and so they can use both lanes. I was sorry to see the buildout of our neighborhood.
