Looking for a good travel agent for booking cruises. The one I used the last couple of times never gives upgrades or any price that I couldn't get directly through the cruise lines, we even booked 6 cabins with him a couple of years ago for our daughter's wedding. He didn't even send a bottle of wine to the bride and grooms cabin!

Find an agent with the cruise line you are interested in. They will always give you the best deal, ungrades, etc. Independent agents not so good. We cruise 3 or 4 times a year.

I had used vacationstogo.com for years and they are now basically passing along the benefits provided by the cruiselines and nothing else.

Recently changed to Crucon.com which is much better. They email you specials each week and are generous with free gratuities and On Board Credits in addition to whatever the cruise lines are giving.

Recently booked a Celebrity Cruise for 7 nights with them and will receive free gratuities, On Board Credit from Crucon plus free drink packages from Celebrity.

Give them a try.

Suggest cruisecompete dot com You put in the specific cruise and room category and several large national agencies "bid" for your reservation. No obligation to accept any of the bids. Always have been better $ than any agent even when I've asked for local person to match.

We have been on 19 cruises and booked every one ourselves through Travelocity.com, Expedia.com or Orbitz.com! Who ever is giving the best cabin credits gets our business. pay the minimum to book and watch the prices. If the price goes down and you have already booked your cruise paying just the $500.00 deposit they will give you the new price. We have done this numerous times and they are always willing to adjust the price since you can cancel at anytime without penalty up to 4 months of your cruise date. Once the final payment gets made, if they run a special for a cheaper price they will upgrade your cabin as a alternative. We always book an inside cabin (cheapest cabin) since we are only in the room to sleep! Happy cruising!

We always book direct with the cruise line. Best deals and much more knowledgeable. Much more responsive to the individual.
In our opinion and experience ove 30 years.

After several years of jumping around, we found Crucon.com. They seem to be consistently the best. Great service and extras--usually prepaid gratuities and an extra shipboard credit. May also add a specialty dining evening and ship excursion if booking a suite. While they do charge a cancellation penalty, it is only $50 and they waive it if you switch reservation to a different sail date.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I actually did call Cru Con and prices were pretty good. May try that Cruise compete to compare.
