We did it! Bought a Samsung smart TV ultra 4k today! Seems to be where the TV's are heading. Also we are switching to Direct TV as all the channels, movies etc are now broadcast in 4k. Can't wait for delivery. This should be interesting since we are so far behind in technology. We don't even have smart phones lol

Bought a Samsung 4K in Fall 2013. Bought Samsung Blu-ray player that upconverts to 4K right after. Trying to get local DirecTV installer to put the Samsung adapter in, then when 4K available in DirecTV will only need software upgrade to be downloaded. Saw a 8K some years ago at CES, now that is an impressive picture, 3D without glasses.

Just get the special Samsung box and you are set. Problem is getting one, bought our 4K in Fall 2013 when we moved here.

When you get the Geni box with Directv you'll find all kinds of things you can do. For example if a TV show is talking about some artist or band and you want to see them or find out more, go to search and type in some key words or name. When it pops up on the right, select YouTube and you can watch instantly any videos or movies that are related to the subject on YouTube. I also go to Youtube on my computer and select videos and concerts I want to see on the big screen, put them in my favorites, so when I connect later via Smart TV, they are already in my Youtube que.

One word of caution, if your set is capable of voice commands, I suggest you turn off this feature, do you want your TV listening to you all day long? Seriously there was an article some time ago, that some for these devices send to audio (your voices) to a 3rd party where this is analyzed to determine if you are trying to command the TV to do something.
No I will admit to some paranoia and I do not want anything constantly listening to me and sending that audio to who knows where.
