Has anyone here tried this new restaurant yet? I read on another thread very good things about it. They have a website and the menu sounds yummy! I think we'll be trying it out for sure.

Talked to a couple of people I know that live in the Leesburg area and they had not been or knew anything about it.
Apparently, the location has a long history of failed restaurants so let's hope that history does not repeat.

Wonder if Turners was Jeffrey Paul's Chop House in an earlier time? Either way hope Turner's succeeds. JP's was decent, although I believe some folks questioned the owner's sanity. I found him to be an entertaining character.

It's a movie based on huge lobsters falling from the sky and terrorizing people. You know, like sharknado.

Maybe they only serve it in the back room.
Found a review on The Villages Gourmet Club's Website (http://thevillagesgourmetclub.com/page2.html#B126a).
Looks like they're not ready for prime time yet.
Give them a few more months or years.

I have had the pleasure of dining at Turner's 3 times now and I cannot wait to go back again. The cavernous interior fashioned from polished wood is quite striking and the food is some of the best I have had since moving to Lake County. I am originally from Washington DC, so I have enjoyed some quality dining and this place can stand proudly next to the best. The staff is super friendly and very skilled at their jobs. I highly recommend the Reuben Sandwich and the Rib Eye, and for dessert - Sweet Potato Cheesecake. Please take note they don't accept reservations.

We went last Tuesday night with another couple and all four thought it was wonderful. The service was very good, food came out in a timely manner and all 4 entrees were delicious. Their steaks are outstanding. The chocolate cake served with peanut butter milk was amazing. Going back tonight! Highly recommend! :pepper2:

Hubby and I went to Turners for lunch today. Had the $5 Express lunch (with purchase of a beverage) Hubby had the 1/4 lb. burger with a cup of tomato-basil bisque and I had the short rib sliders with a sweet potato bbq sauce. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. The inside of the restaurant is very attractive. We will definitely go back...want to try their dinners :)

Turner's is a great place to eat for lunch. I had the grouper sandwich and soup. It was an outstanding piece of fish. Loved the experience.

My wife, son and I had dinner at Turners. It is very easy to find since it is just off Main Street in Leesburg. Main Street is actually Route 44 which defines the southern edge of TV. Service was outstanding with everyone pitching in to help (e.g., refill drinks, take away finished dishes, stop by periodically to see if we wanted anything). We had the catch of the day (Sea Bass from Australia), Caramelized Scallops, and traditional Scallops. We sampled one another's dishes since this was our first visit to Turners. Each dish was very good. Since they had three desserts the night we were there, we ordered one of each (and shared again). These were a Sweet Potato Cheese Cake, Chocolate Cake and Bread Pudding. Once again, all three were hits. It wasn't inexpensive but we were pleased with everything. In comparison with TV restaurants, we would rate it at or near the top with Lopez, Hemingway and Palmers). It is a bit less convenient but it does offer a different menu making it a pleasant alternative for a special meal.

We had a very unpleasant visit to Turner's last night. It was very busy and we came in and gave our number of people. The woman at the desk put it down. Then I noticed other people coming in and giving their cell phone numbers. She never asked me for mine, so I went up to the desk and informed her of that and wanted our name to be put in the right order. Another woman, who was not there when I checked in, said she couldn't do that and it would be about 20 minutes more on top of the time we had already been waiting. I felt that was unreasonable but still waited. We also noticed 4 empty tables, 3 of which had not been bussed.
Finally, after 35 minutes, my husband went to the desk and asked what was going on.
He then took our name off the list. As we were leaving, I stopped at the desk and talked to the Owner. I told her how I felt about our experience, and she never apologized, or said please try us again.
Believe me....we will never be trying them again!

I'm confused. Why did you think your name was out of order? And what did the person at the desk say when your husband asked what was going on?

They don't need your phone number. It doesn't change the order of the names. Names are in order on the list. If you give a number, they can send a text to let you know your tables ready. Otherwise they'll call your name or just come & get you.

Love, love, love Turners. The food is fantastic and the staff wonderful. It does not take reservations and has a nice bar(haven't seen it on YEAH NO GOLF)and tables for two or 4. Lunch menu from 11 to 3. Small interim menu from 3-4 and dinner from 4 till closing. Closed Sun and Mon. One of the best new restaurants out there. We have been very often since opening two mos ago. Try it. I guarantee you'll return.

I have followed this forum for years and only now feel the urge to chime in.
We have eaten at Turner's twice and find it to be a true cut-above.
Consider: The food has flavor, the cocktails and wine are very expensive (3x TV rates), there is no Happy Hour or televisions, they decline food substitutions and parties over 6, no reservations, there is a $3 charge for a side salad and $6 if you want more than one dinner roll. I have not encountered any evidence (word of mouth aside) of any advertising here on campus.
This does not strike me as a business that is overly concerned or interested in drawing a crowd from The Villages. They always appear to be busy so I am sure they do not "need" people that have a problem with the way they do business. It is clear that every aspect of this restaurant has been carefully thought out. I will certainly continue to visit Turner's as we like to get out of the bubble, appreciate superior food and service no matter what the cost, and I no longer care to dine with anyone other than my wife so the small table are no issue.

Don't you like to go out once in awhile with friends or neighbors ? Sometimes we like to have a quiet night out with just the 2 of us, but we enjoy going out with friends and having a fun time.

C'est vrai, mais les crossant are yummy and worth six dollars, don't cha think?
AND if you try to speak French there in Paris, they like you better. Perhaps if we tried not to have an attitude, they would like us better in Leesburg?
But six dollars? CFrance...perhaps this is a rumor, that might be.............oooolalalal

Everyone at the table gets a pretzel roll accompanied with a plate of orange infused olive oil and chocolate balsamic vinegar for dipping. The rolls are one per person, but if you would like more rolls and dipping oil there is an appetizer of 4 rolls and a new plate of oil/balsamic for $6.00. The entre portions are very generous and we have never ordered more rolls.

Have Only been once but love this place. The food was excellent and the service was too. We did not wait to get seated, however we went between lunch and dinner. They had a limited menu because it was in the middle of the afternoon however the server told us if we wanted something from either of the other menus they would do everything they could to try to make it . I really like the fact that there are no televisions, it's very charming inside . I asked for extra salad dressing he brought me back two and didn't charge any extra. It was pimento cheese salad dressing over a seafood salad very large portions at a very fair price . I see there are mixed reviews and I can only speak for myself but I can't wait to go back and have dinner. The other two people in my party had hamburgers and chips they were happy as well. The five dollar lunch special can't be beat .

I was there for lunch and thought the presentation was lovely but wasn't impressed with the food. It was ok but not enough to make me want to return.
Today, a very good friend of mine told me she went with another couple for dinner and they were thrown out for taking too long. They had gotten a drink at the bar and then went to a table. They wanted to order their appetizers first and the waiter said normally they take the appetizer order and the entree order at the same time. They ordered a second drink after eating the appetizers and before they ordered their food. Next thing, the hostess came by to say she needed their menus although there were plenty of open tables. They said they hadn't ordered yet. The chef came out and told them to pay for their drinks and their appetizers and leave. Rather bizarre. I wasn't there but just repeating what I was told by a very calm, patient, polite woman.

Turner's is closer in atmosphere to Thai Ruby than to Cody's let's say. Both are fun, but one is somewhat more formal and more intimate as far as seating is concerned. Anyhow, Turner's is a nice change of scenery when you leave the bubble which we all have to do once in a while.

Wonderful FAIL strategy.
What's next?
"We don't want customers from Lake County."
"We don't want customers from Florida."
I would not want to patronize a business that discriminates like that.

We have eaten at Turners a number of times. The service has always been good. We have never been told not to come back. Quite a few friends and neighbors have gone there and no complaints. Most have gone back for another meal. We have felt zero discrimination.

Some of our age group have been known to be a bit persnickety, shall we say, in our dealings at restaurants and stores. Or noisy. Or travel in large groups. I just wonder if all Villagers might be taking the hit for the actions of some at Turners.
We don't complain at restaurants. We just don't go back. Not every place is going to please everyone. People should try places and see for themselves. My husband was not very impressed with their online menu, so we haven't been. I'm sure I'll be able to talk him into a visit.

Turners is not a typical Villager restaurant. They do not allow more than 6 at a table. IIke the rule because the restaurant is not noisy. The chef works very well at pairing the sides with the entres. They don't do substitutions. It is more of a dining experience.

I don't think happy hour is catering to the basement crowd. Some very good restaurants have a happy hour. Ruth's Chris & PF Changs both do.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dinner last night at Turner's Kitchen in Leesburg. The service was great, but the food was even greater in quality, presentation and taste.
Shrimp and Grits = Among the best in the South and very filling.
Divers Scallops with Balsamic Glaze = Melt in your mouth.
White Chocolate Chunk Bread Pudding/Bourbon Cherry Sauce = Sinful.
Also, a MAJOR benefit = NO LARGE GROUPS There are booths and tables. Tables are either two-tops or four-tops. Turner's seating policy limits seating to no more than 6 diners at a table. This is a very good thing. The kitchen runs much smoother and the noise level is more muted.
Turner's is a GREAT addition to the area.

They have three tables that will accommodate six. According to the owner they are taken quickly so a party of five or six needs to arrive early, probably 4:30 pm, to have a good chance to get one.
