Rockinronda posted a pic of the Orange Blossom Country Club pool and it just blew me away!! I didn't know there were any such nice pools in TV. Soooo, I was wondering if it isn't too much to ask if anyone has any other pics of some of the TV swimming pools, or the country club pools to share.

Since I'm not a golfer, I'd hang out at the pool and socialize there. I don't even mind paying extra to join the country club and have lunch served at the pool. So, if anyone has any pool pics to share............. please.... post them here and thanks for the effort!

I agree, CIB

Here, the Hemingway is just a rectangular pool, nothing much but functional. It does have some shaded areas made by lattices/arbors and will serve us well, but the Orange Blossom pool was/is amazing.
I might have to open the wallet for a pool membership too. I do wish some were indoors (other than the wellness center pool - and I think that costs well beyond my budget).

However, let the pics begin!!!

Amelia pool the same as Hemingway. I agree, pics of OB were amazing! Wouldn't justify the cost to me tho. Now maybe if I was a golfer.......

Belvedere Pool on Churchill Downs, older than Hemmingway and Amelia, is also a functional rectangle, though there is a more substantial structure near the washrooms where we've seen a crowd come in and set up a buffet lunch, plus other shady areas around the pool.

I love the Odell pool area and it is in truth right in our back yard. The African theme is continued into the tile of the pool and on the side of the building and the chairs have a designer name on them, but I can't think of it right now. The landscaping is so pretty with grasses and a wall screening the end of our lot from the shuffleboard courts. There is a covered picnic area too. It may be a rectangle but I think they have finished it very nicely.

The OB pool is the exception... it is a beautiful pool with a tiki bar, hot tub, frequent live entertainment and food. The HH is also very nice with the same amenities and a hot tub. The Glenview pool is shaped like a tennis racket but lacks other amenities. The Lopez pool does have a bar and food available but is just rectangular. As far as I know, all the other pools in TV are just functional "L" shaped or rectangular. I may not be entirely accurate but as far as I have seen, this pretty much describes the various pools in TV.

CIB:

My brother and his main squeeze have been coming to TV from Chicago nearly every March for years for two weeks of laying around the Orange Blossom Pool starting at about 9:30 AM (to get a cabana)until after lunch. Our Mom has been in TV for over 17 years and lives down the street from the pool. There is usually some entertainment every day (at least in the winter), table service from the restaurant and Tiki Bar.

Link works if you copy and paste this. Noticed that there seems to be a limitation on who can use the CC pools in TV? "The Villages Country Club Pools are for the exclusive use of Villages Country Club Priority Members and their guests." From link. http://golfthevillages.com/pools/

Odell and Amelia pools, for example, are neighborhood pools and are generally just square rectangles. The pools at Orange Blossom, Glenview, Mallory, etc. are country club pools and each generally has a theme or special ambience to them, as well as being much larger than the neighborhood pools. OB is known for its Tiki Bar, Glenview pool is in the shape of a tennis racket with a Jacuzzi as a handle; etc. Anyone can go to the neighborhood pools. Country club pools are restricted to those with a priority membership. If you buy a golf priority membership, it includes the use of the country club pools. If you don't golf and don't buy that membership, you can purchase a priority pool membership, which is $200 for a single, or $260 for a couple.

The one thing I wasn't crazy about regarding the country club pools is that they allow children (at least the Mallory pool does, don't know about the other CC pools). Don't get me wrong, I love kids, but just not everytime I go to a pool, particularly in the high season - Feb - April. My opinion, is that for what I pay for the golf priority membership($740/couple for 6 months) is that I shouldn't have to put up with screaming kids at the country club pools. There are plenty of neighborhood pools that cater to kids, and you know the kids aren't residents, but guests. Just doesn't make sense to me, but that's the way it is.

Hello Everyone on this thread,

I seldom post, however I read many of the various posts to get information. On this topic I could not keep quiet about "kids" at the country club pools. There should be a requirement that before adoring grandparents and their "get" attend these pools that they attend a class on how to manage grandchildren and for the grandchildren how to behave at a pool.
Grandparents love your grandchildren, but keep them under control. Just because your "kids" are using you as their vacation destination and for babysitting you have no right to invade my right to relax at the pool. You have no right to interfere with my relaxing. I personally will speak out at the pool if some grandparent has no sense as to proper behavior. I will stop for now as I become very angry at the nerve and lack of manners displayed by these people.

LK - not disagreeing but is it worth the battle? I'd just go to my local neighborhood pool and there should be no little ones there.

Good Morning Russ,

As long as it becomes too much of an effort to "take a stand" misbehaving people will always continue to be pushy and have disregard for the rights of others. I went to college during the activist era and stayed in the background raising my family and working solidly so one day I could retire to a wonderful place somewhere and here it is. I am not about to pay money to go to the Country Club pools and have out of control children destroy my enjoyment. Yes, I will make my presence known to both the monitor and the adults and children as to their behavior.
Russ as to the adult pools most are small and just functional.

I only have 19 days experience here. (Each a treasure) But each day the Odell pool has a lot of little ones, grammies and papas and moms and dads, and so far the children have had a good time without being "out of control" or rude or invading anyone's space. I am not clear Kathleen what the little ones are doing? Children do jump in and shout with glee when they are little. I would not like it if they splashed me or jumped too close or were taking my magazine.

Hi Gracie and welcom to The Villages,

Children running on the deck, jumping off the sides of the pool and yelling is intrusive to those adults seeking a relaxing time at the pool. No responsible adult should allow that to happen. Does a grandparent feel her grandchildren won't love them anymore because they are corrected? These people should take the children to a beach or build a pool of there own. Many of us love it when they all go home.

LK - OH! There has been a lot of talk on this forum about personal attacks and I hope I never do that so please don't take this as one. Let's just say that we can agree to disagree on this one. The actions you describe appear to be normal 'kid' stuff so I wouldn't attribute that to misinformed / permissive grandparents. I understand your point about paying extra for the pool but I assume that in your contract it must have mentioned that the CC pools are 'open' to all members including their guests of any age. If they are not supposed to be there then that is a different issue that you need to address with CC management.

I've only stayed in TV for a little over 1 week and it was during April but I thought is was almost too quiet. Almost but not quite, I love quiet!

We have the membership to the pools as well. I enjoy it a lot as they are a little more fun...however I will say that there is one country club that has a pool that is for adults only. I believe that it is Tierra Del Sole if I spelled it correctly....but they are adult only and only for country club....

I also know that as wonderful OB is there are a lot of people that are not villages residents and certainly do not pay extra to be there...come in the back entrance of the pool. There is a small parking lot right behind the country club for I am assuming employees. There are many people that just walk in and sit at the bar without ever being spoken to. I also notice that some of the pool monitors will save lounge chairs or tables for their own friends and families. I notice the lounge chair thing more in the winter months...

With all those things said I think you have to remember that a lot of times the grandparents dont come to the pools with their families. A lot of times the adult children bring their kids without grandma or grandpa....

Some monitors are really good...others do not make a deal out of anything....

We also thought it would be a good idea to give the child a test prior to being allowed in the CC pool areas...kind of like a sensitivity training or questionaire.....kidding but not such a bad idea...and it came from an 11 year old!!

A monitor who is doing there job will not allow that. I have seen the monitors at Hacienda Hills Country Club pool stop this behavior many times.
One time a young girl around ten years old would squeal and whine when her brother swam by---not paying any attention to her. I put up with it for quite a while and then gave the mother a dirty look. She told her daughter to quit acting that way because people here are not used to children. She said it in a snotty way. The child did shut up and lo and behold she started having a real good time and met others her age. You would think the mother would learn something from that but I doubt it.

I would say that the monitors at Hacienda Hills are AWESOME! There is one woman there that has been there for 11 years!! I also think it is wrong for the mother to speak that way...it doesnt teach her children the right way. The "people" here are certainly used to children...how does she think she got here?? I am sure her own parents live here etc...

No Personal attacks, just control those children. Do people not know what proper behavior is????????????????? I was not raised that way nor were my children nor my friend's children. Take those kids to the beach. This is a RETIREMENT COMMUNITY first and foremost. We live here. This is our home. Your grandchildren and children visit. Be respectful. As for pool monitors they try to do their best but do not want to offend a potenial buyer. The club you mentioned is an adult pool. The developer would never close a country club pool to a potenial buyer.
