I know I debate him hot and heavy and throw some zingers but I don't ever want him not to be O.K.
I hope he has just taken a little vacation.
He hasn't logged on for a week and that is so unusual. Please hurry back, VPL so we can argue.

I believe he has gone on a cruise - for vegans only. At all ports of call the 5 passengers disembark to try the local veggies and salad bars. I understand one of the stops is well known for its vegetable smoothies and he hopes to come back and share the recipe on TOTV.
We do miss him though.

I've heard of this cruise! Instead of entertainment they have expansive roundtable discussions on a number of dietary subjects, including such diverse subjects as:
Beets -- which are more nutritionally dense, red or yellow, and how to measure
Coffee enemas -- regular or decaf?
Couscouse -- whole grain or pasta in disguise?
Just kidding, VPL!

Yes, the entire cruise can be done in an inflatable rubber dinghy, variously known as Zodiacs and Avons. And West Marine has a very good version as well. Some even have fiberglass bottoms and floors. Dogs love them because from their position at the bow they can reach the water with their snouts.

Yes, we have a large Zodiac at our lake cabin. It would make a perfect cruise ship for five Vegans.
And they could reach the water for occasional drinks with their snouts.

Gracie, think about it. If you go to the library... you don't know what he looks like. You'd have to ask the people at the desk, and they are going to think you're strange, because you're asking about someone whom you haven't a clue what he looks like and don't know his name. Maybe they don't understand forums. It might not look like stalking, but it could look just plain nosy!
He has neighbors. He has a lady friend. If he's missing, someone will report it. He's just on vacation or recovering from something, and we should respect his privacy. JMO

It is us TOTV addicts that people start talking about as to where they are. Villages PL is quite a regular. It is as if Norm did not show up at Cheers; so Cliff, Sam, Carla, and Woody start to worry. Hello. I have been concerned about a gentleman who comes here frequently and uses the computer. Like every day. He appears to be missing.
No I don't know what he looks like.
No. I don't know his name either.
No. I have never met him.
Umm well no, I don't know what he drives. I think he checks out films, but he doesn't have a television, what kind of films could that be?
No. He isn't exactly a friend. In fact we argue frequently. I just hope he is o.k.

I respectfully disagree. I can't think of anytime that a time out was noted publicly by the administrators.
And speaking of that. I do know a couple of people who in the past were moderators.

I can't believe he is still missing.
My guess is that he must have someone watching his house as he deals with whatever personal is going on in his life. The neighbors surely would have noticed something amiss over three weeks time. We see whether we want to our not much of what happens at the homes across from us. I assume Villages PL's neighborhood is also like that as he seems to live in Belvedere. Some of those homes are kind of isolated. I have a friend from Doggie Doo Run Run who has occasional parties in Belvedere. There are homes in cul-de-sacs.
Still I am worried about our resident vegan and heavy library user. The librarians probably know who he is if he is an everyday patron. We used to chat about various library users when I was a volunteer at Palm Harbor and East Lake Community Libraries in Palm Harbor from 2000-2003. But you could not really invade a person's privacy unless for a very good reason like a medical emergency, crime, etc.

Even though I know the posts on this thread are very well intended, I'm not sure VPL would appreciate people speculating about his whereabouts.
He lives in a patio villa with neighbors in very close proximity, so I'd think they would notice if anything was amiss.
Hopefully he will decide to join us again. If not, he may have found a Vegan Forum that is more in keeping with his beliefs.

We have found that in some cases where they are in the minority opinion on some issues, they just get tired of arguing and try to stay away.
Or who knows, maybe VPL fell off the wagon and ate a piece of jerky.

I actually think that he would be "delighted" that there were that many people who cared and were concerned about his well-being. It appears that he was often attacked directly for his views, but here there has only primarily been references to those posts. 16 pages of comments is a strong indication of the value that he apparently has contributed to this forum.

Ice cream
news for those who live a dairy-free life: Ben & Jerry's is releasing a vegan ice cream next spring. According to the Telegraph, the company has been working on a new dairy-less ice cream and plans to use either coconut milk or almond milk as as base.
Co-founder Jerry Greenfield tells the paper, "In the US there are [dairy-free] alternatives from smaller companies but Ben & Jerry's will be first mainstream company that will do that and will also do it in a really delicious way." The company was apparently inspired to create a vegan ice cream after a petition asking for non-dairy options quickly gained 27,000 signatures.
So what other alternative Ben & Jerry's pints could be popping up in your freezer one day? In March, Greenfield and fellow co-founder Ben Cohen admitted that they would consider making a cannabis-infused ice cream. Cohen noted: "Makes sense to me. Combine your pleasures." Maybe one day the duo will create a vegan weed ice cream for the ultimate hippie treat.

Soy ice cream has been around for a long time.
If I recall correctly, Jimbo, Carl Esselstyn advocates that you stay away from all synthetic meats made from soy. Would the same hold true for soy based ice cream?

I just think it's really time to let this go. JMO
I was thinking the same thing Bonny.
If I took an unannounced break, I wouldn't want anyone to start a "Where is Barefoot" thread.
Especially if people started to speculate about whether I had medical issues.
I realize all the posts have been meant in the kindest possible way, but in my humble opinion, I think VPL now deserves some privacy.

I think he would answer each post about him individually.
Then we'd be off to the races, again.:blahblahblah:

We drink exclusively almond or cashew milk.
Have you tried the almond/coconut blend? I use it for my smoothies, yum.

We will note this Barefoot.
Personally, if I were gone for a while I would like Graciegirl to send out her posse to see what became of me.
