Board Games in TV?

<Not sure if this is the right forum to ask, nevertheless...>

I've done some searching through the myriad of clubs, groups, etc., but I haven't seen any groups that play board games. Not cards (although that interests me too), but good old fashion board games. For example...

Carcassonne
Risk
Settlers of Catan
Monopoly

Of course there are a bazillion more, but I just wanted to name a few to get the juices flowing. Any clubs/groups that play these sorts of (classic or newer) board games?

I have played wargames in the past and have a few here. Also I would be interested in playing pbm by computer. Not really interested in most generic board games. However, some are fun such as railroad games.

Po-Ke-No is a board game--check the Rec News. Some rec centers offer open hours for board games; check the calendars on thevillages.com. There was a group up in the NW area that played board games at their homes, I think. Maybe someone will contact you.

A couple of friends of ours that will be moving here in June introduced us to Sequence. We enjoyed it so much I immediately ordered one online but the Jumbo version as the board is easier to read for these old eyes. Lots of fun if you like board games.

I love this game as well and playing a jumbo version would definitely be the way to go for me now. :) I have seen Sequence socials listed on the monthly activities page but I have never been to one of them.

Wow we'll have to look at that page.!! The Jumbo version is well worth it, I got it on Amazon :)

We have agroup of 8 that have been playing "Jokers and Marbles" for 7 years now. It is a board game that uses card values to move 5 marbles from your "home" around to your "castle". We play men againt the women as teams though it can be played individually. The original game is for 6 palyers but we combine 2 games to create an eight person game. I believe there are places in TV that have open play but we only play our private game. Google "Jokers and Marbles" for game details.

I've heard from at least one other person who may be interested in starting a miscellaneous board games club. I will admit I'm a little hesitant...after all, there are so many clubs already here, and I'm not experienced in starting a club, so I'm going to do a more detailed search to see if any existing clubs might fit the bill.

Card clubs are rather abundant, and that comes close to what I'm looking for. So I might give one of those a try. Canasta, Sheepshead, Wizard Cards, several others come to mind that I know would be fun.

But the pull of board games is still there. So if anybody else is interested in a group...or knows of any board-game specific clubs that I might be missing...post here or shoot me a pm. :)

I noticed a sign for a Parcheesi club at Laurel Manor, but I can't remember if it was Wednesday at six or Saturday at eleven. That is when we pass by to go to Ceramics, me and Helene.

I would love to learn Wizzard which I am told is a good deal like Euchre. We have played Euchre all of our lives.
