I think it would help if the Daily Mail, and the other media published the need for the men to keep their knee's in the golf cart and not hang out when driving the cart. It is terrible to see this going on and I heard that at least once a month there is a visit to the ER because of knee damage from passing carts. :ho:

Number one, what is the Daily Mail?
Number two, has anyone ever read where there was a knee injury from this? Where did you hear this?

Path striping. That's the solution to this rampant problem, but frankly, I would be more concerned about the welfare of those in oncoming carts if any of these daredevils are "going commando".

I have never heard of knees being sideswiped in a golf cart. You would have to be soooo very close for that to happen. I am sure The Daily SUN would have articles about it and the POA paper would, too.
I agree it does look pretty stupid to see the knees leaning out of the carts. Maybe the guys just need to lose weight and they will fit inside the cart.

I know someone who broke their ankle. There foot was hanging out the side of the golf cart and the driver did not see a tree stump.
[That's not a protruding knee. I went off topic. [again]]

YES - The dreaded "They People!"
And yes the striping is a great idea. If the police see your knee over the line it could be a $250.00 fine !!!!

Going back and forth from Orange Blossom and Tierra Del Sol on our cart the last couple of days for a tournament made me realize that not only knees and feet need to be kept in but also the drivers mirror needs to be folded back crossing the bridge over Lake Sumter and the cart crossover bridge on 27/441. I folded ours back an instant before it could get hit on the LS by a cart driver that veered toward the centerline. He had a Curtis Cab with the doors slid back open and it was close; it was the wife's cart also. :ohdear:

Why do some believe this is a forum for terrible humor rather than serious discussion. There is no harm and in fact it is good if readers express different views but to believe there is humor in mocking or trying to be a bad comedian is kind of sad. I believe you can find a negative person on any corner but the creative/positive person is a little more difficult to find.

And while we are at it, let's make sure our golf cart tires are inflated properly. The tire industry has warned us many times that under inflated tires can result in a catastrophic tire failure which could cause immediate loss of vehicle control and death. And don't forget that sun screen. Even reflected sunlight can cause serious skin damage.

I respect all of you who are sincerely trying to watch out for us. Have you met twoplane kid yet?
The Morse Bridge cart path becomes less narrow as you get used to it......AND adjust your speed DOWN. No need to fold your mirrors back.

How sad some don't get the message and continue to mock those who are trying to help. I call it the 10% club. There are always 10% who cause the problems and are negative vs 90% who really care about their neighbor. A question you may want to ask is if you are a member of that 10% club?

I don't think a lot of light hearted good humor is mocking, unless it is used when I am trying to get a point across.
We all can't agree and our absolutes may not be anothers.
There is a lot of just plain silly bantering that occurs here all of the time and while you may think the purpose of the forum is only to exchange information of some serious merit, most of us seek more than that.
We all are very different people and most of us are very good people who really do care about others..

This isn't a bogus comment in any sense of the word. When we were new and went to T.V. Newcomers Meeting at Lake Miona, one of the speakers told us to keep our legs inside the golf cart (I know you've seen folks with their leg hanging out) because of safety. He did reiterate that there are injuries from this. I've also wondered on the knees hanging out as well. While I'm here I want to add there are folks driving golf carts who have had strokes or other medical issues that affect the brain and perception. Stroke survivors may have what is called "Left neglect" or "right neglect". Then there are the folks on several medications too. They may not "perceive" the distance between vehicles etc. There are those who LOVE to make light of any comment made on the social media sites so take it with a grain of salt and know they're in the minority.....I've referring to the 10%.

Thank you for this warning. Sweetie doesn't hang his knee out and neither do Helene and I.
There are a number who do, but I have to think that is the natural way of sitting for some guys who may not be aware of it. Can you tell me where you heard of the accidents caused by this?

There are things in life that need education and explanations.
However I think it's just common sense to keep your knee inside the golf cart when meeting another cart.
The POA publishes a lot about golf cart accidents. I haven't noticed any incidents mentioned about knee damage.

Mistake in saying Daily Mail! It was not meant as humor but rather a serious point when in the Golf Cart. You really take a risk when posting suggestions as there are the 10% club members who have little positive thoughts and believe their humor is funny when it is really bad and sad. Think about all the times you have experienced "negative" comments, or angry responses and write it off to that 10%. Look at The Villages and how wonderful a life it has provided for us. Then think about the "10%" who are angry at the Developer, make fun of the positive people, mock positive suggestions, yell at other drivers, think the police are wrong in ticketing violators, ignore the rules, etc. It is key to remember each belong to their own 10% club. I will be surprised if one does not challenge this note as being a 10% against the 10%'s? Life if great. :ho:

Village Chicken offered a solution to the problem and then dared to inject a little humor.
You may not find his humor funny, but some do.
It's not bad and sad to say something funny now and then, even on a serious thread!

I believe it is wrong to make fun about a subject that is serious and meant to help the residents. There is nothing funny about a person going to the hospital because a cart hit his leg/knee because it was beyond the side of the cart. As I said and standby there is that 10% who think this is a funny. :ohdear:

Please tell us where you heard about this problem. The Daily Sun? The online news? The POA Bulletin? Or word of mouth?
I know from reading your posts that you are a serious individual and you have made many sincere and heart felt posts and have been challenged.
Almost all of us have been challenged. Some with humor, some with painful directness and some with changing the subject.
I have been called Pollyanna, Goody two shoes, and a LOT worse. I heard at a recent party that someone said that the Morses GAVE me our house. When you venture into giving your opinion to the world you expose your vulnerable underbelly to misinterpretation and ridicule sometimes. .

In the same way that you cannot fix stupid, you cannot make people use common sense. It's a no brainer and I just tend to live by what my daddy said, "if you worry about yourself, you'll have a full time job".

You are right that you can't fix "stupid". Some of the 10%'ers are not stupid but rather focus on having negative attitudes and contribute very little to the positive side of life. There is no humor of people who are ill, challenged or have or may have injuries. When you hear or read someone who exhibits that behavior the best is to not laugh since that provides some form of approval. How many have been in a group and one of the members made a terrible joke and most laughed rather than stay silent and not give approval to that bad behavior?
Lots of this exists and thus isolating the 10%'er. :ohdear:

My post was not addressing "10%ers" or any comments in this thread.
I'm referring to the OP. People can use common sense or not. I have no control over that and they aren't hurting me if they hang their foot out of the cart. Therefore, I choose to worry about myself instead of trying to police everybody else.
