I am a bit confused. We gave up the 5 men in GTMO to get Sgt Bergdahl back. We sent them to Qatar and made a deal.
That deal expires in a few hours which means to me that travel ban is now expired.
The USA is back negotiating with Qatar on these 5 guys.
Just wondering what we are negotiating now. While on the surface, I say great but what has happened to obviously change our mind on this and want more bans ?

I will have to say that in my view the exchange was so egregiously stupid, dare I say bordered on insanity that one would just move from the sublime to the ridiculous trying to make sense of it.
One can only imagine how servicemen and their families who had given life and limb to defend our democracy reacted to Obama's invitation to Bergdahl's parents to the Rose Garden .
In my view it was never a doubt that the 5 Taliban exchanged for this deserter would return to the fight, after all like the scorpion they do what comes natural
The handling of this exchange by Obama & company is so telling as to who they are and how they think that it should have frightened the entire US population and in fact the free world but those darlings of the liberal media.

Politics aside, may not be possible for some, I have yet to hear any rational reasoning or purpose for such a trade. In my opinion , like Benghazzi, it has all to do with the back room persuassions we will never ever come to know the truth about.
Yes indeed this is another example of reason to be fearful of what may be really happening.

Didn't Secretary Gates say at the time that we never leave a member of the military behind? Isn't that the policy? If so, it should make members of the military feel good that their government will not leave them behind.

Yes, that was the reason. My first gut reaction was to the price, not the reason.
And also I hope someday we address that we made this deal with a terrorist org, and NOT a country. There are real legal issues, buried but real issues in negotiating with terrorist groups. It is one that seems appropriate in today's age.

Also now reporting that 4 americans taken in Yemen (you remember Yemen, the success story used just a few months ago)
These are not military so I guess they are on their own. Iran has a few also I think plus a journalist standing trial.
Negotiate or not ??

Did we ever get our Marine back from our close friends in Mexico?

Not sure but if you are speaking of the young marine held in prison in Mexico for close to a year, he was sent home probably 7/8 months ago for treatment of PTSD.

Haven't heard anything about our marine. Isn't it amazing we play catch and release the evil enemy? They are already in touch with the Taliban as they return to the battlefield to kill us

If you speak of the Marine that was in Mexico, he was released quite a few months ago and that was posted earlier.
If you speak of Bowe Bergdahl, the fellow who was traded for the 5, he was charged with desertion and misbehaving before the enemy and will stand trial someday !
