We just received a letter that Dr. Gegaj is relocating from Premier Medical. Does anyone know where he is going?

My mom had her first appt with dr. Gegaj today and when we arrived was told he left. They offered for the other doc to see her - he was an infectious disease specialist. Told them she did not have an infectious desease and left the office.
If anyone knows where Gegaj sets up practice please let us know. In the meantime if you have recommendation for a doctor that can work with my cantankerous mother please let me know.
If you are a current patient of the doctor, you may not able to continue seeing him. When Dr. Abrantes left this practice, she had signed an agreement to not take any of her patients with her and that she could nt see a former patient for 12 months at her new practice. I had no choice...she couldn't see me. I believe that this is always the way at Premier. Unfortunately, as the patient, you have no choice as he will be legally bound not to service you.
I hope someone finds out where he is going. I didn't expect that the office would say but did ask to no avail.

I have NO idea what is enforceable under Florida law, nor what the covenant not to compete may say in the employment contract. However, I have never seen a covenant that prohibited a patient from exercising a choice of what doctor to see. The usual provision is that the doctor may not operate a practice within X miles of the previous practice for Y months. The doctor also is not entitled to any of the patient lists, names, phone numbers or address. However I see no way that a contract could tell me the patient that I cannot see the doctor should I find him at any time. Lawyers? what is the rule in Florida?

I, too, just received a letter today. I had my third visit with this fine Doctor and again, I am so sad to receive this unwelcomed news. My husband has been seeing Dr. Khanna for the last nine years. On the otherhand, I also use the same practice and I believe Dr. Gegaj is my fifth primary physician. Unfortunately, we will not get any info as to where he has relocated but you never know that if he is still in the area, six months or more down the road we may see a newspaper ad that gives us an update.

Maybe a Google search will provide an updated address for Dr. Gegaj. Both my husband and I had seen him in the Premier Medical Urgent Care and thought highly of him. Our regular physician in that practice is Dr. Shah and we're very happy with him.

I made an appointment last Thursday to see Dr Gegaj yesterday June second. When I arrived I was told Dr Gegaj had left the practice and I would be seeing another doctor.I was also told they were backed up with patients and it would take awhile to be seen. After waiting forty-five minutes a nurse came out and told another waiting patient that she might want to go instead to their urgent care. The patient was told that even if they took her back and placed in in a room,it would still be a long wait.Upon hearing this I decided to cancel my visit since my issue wasn't anything pressing.I also realize these things happen so I wasn't upset.I wonder though if the office person who made my appointment knew that Dr Gegaj would not be the doctor seeing me and just didn't tell me.I was previously a patient of Dr Eldar who also left the practice.I received the letter today and was informed I would be the patient of Dr Madarang.

You can look up the status of a Florida license at
https://appsmqa.doh.state.fl.us/IRM00PRAES/PRASLIST.ASP
When the doctor has a new location he should be revising his Florida record to show his primary practice site.

Thank you; we'll try that. We Binged him yesterday and got no current results. Distressing, as he is a superior physician.

Thank you for follow up and post. My wife and I both like him for our primary care and were not looking forward to starting with a new Dr. unless absolutely necessary.

That link is great, but as of this date, it still shows Dr. Gegaj at Premier Medical.
