I signed onto this site for information and to acclimate myself to the villages and I am quickly noticing that although a majority of members on this site are welcoming and very helpful there are a small amount that are bullies and there clearly is a small (Mean girl) clique going on. UNREAL I thought the older we get the wiser and nicer we become. I will not let or allow a few individuals ruin my feeling about the villages.

No matter the age of a person, where you live, etc, you will find ignorant, insensitive people. I believe we have fewer of these individuals in The Villages than in other areas we have lived. Don't let those who must crave attention interfere with the vast majority of Villagers who are kind, caring individuals.

You are a kind and positive person. I hope you are enjoying good health.

OP, There is an option to block messages from specific posters, I have recently implemented this for Mansfield Landscaping as they are constantly posting their own rave reviews, works really well!
BTW, well to the villages, we are in general very friendly, but as you point out there are a few.....

I have also noticed that about a clique operating here, & those who have to chime in to agree with the "in' crowd. What is this...junior high school?! Duh! 🐔

While I have gleaned much valuable information on these forums from many generous and knowledgable posters based on some negative past experiences I have found it necessary to utilize the ignore function on certain posters.
In time you will determine which posters to ignore and/or block.
Welcome to TOTV!

Welcome! I believe your perceptions to be accurate. Many posts have been written on this exact issue. Please know that there are far more people here who are thoughtful and considerate. Sadly, a few are still stuck in junior high school. There's also a sector of "know-it-alls". Please ignore them.

Cyber bulling is a serious social problem which has resulted in suicides from victims. To use that term to describe your experiences on TOTV is a insult to the TRUE victims of cyber bullying, particularly the ones so devastated they saw no way out but suicide. Do not mock victims of bullying (cyber or otherwise).
OP was not mocking by any stretch of the imagination. OP is also correct using the term cyber bullying. Just because one doesn't kill themselves over it, doesn't mean it isn't cyber bullying. Don't pretend to know everything that is said on this site via public forum or private message. It DOES go on and most here know it.

Cyber bullying happens on TOTV with unfortunate regularlty.
The ignore function is the answer, at least in part.

I agree. I had a couple that I had to use the ignore button. Those "stir the pot" people, :p

:agree:
Plus, this sort of behavior by a minority is common in almost all internet forums. You'll quickly begin to ignore the appropriate ones, whether by using the 'ignore' feature or by simply passing them by.
The good far, far, far outweigh the bad on ToTV. :)
