Sen. Lindey Graham was on Fox and MSNBC this morning talking about his running for President.
He stated on both stations that he, as President, would send at least 10,000 soldiers to the ISIS controlled areas to kill all of them. He would have a very long term committment of having at least 10,000 troops in the area. To pay for this and for building up all the armed forces to wartime levels, he would cut domestic spending deeply. This included changing entitlements to baby boomers such as Social Security and Medicare.
Does not sound to me like that is a viable plan to win the nomination on any level.

I do not think he really expects to win anything.
He has for whatever reason elected to raise his profile; most likely personal gains.
He does have a constituency that supports his views. That is how he gets re-elected.
He does get face time on the camera and that developes name recognition.
He does become more eligible for interviews, speeches, book deals, etc.
Plus if his staff counsels him correctly he can add value to whoever it is that becomes the front runner.

I understand that you do not feel his plan to fight ISIS is one that will secure the nomination.
I am curious, POLITICS ASIDE, what your plan might be to fight ISIS.
That is a serious question I am asking. From what I read, and you left out all of his REASONS for making that statement, the coalition is not going to do it, our bombing is ineffectual because of lack of troops on the ground, and ISIS seems t advance each week.
Of course, if you feel they pose no threat to our mainline, NOR OUR ALLIES, then it is a different story. If we are simply turning our back on the world, retreating into some kind of isolation, trusting the entire world to just allow us to live in peace, then his ideas are not what we shoul consider.

A better strategy against Isis is the one we currently follow -- do nothing, deny the threat and protect domestic tranfer payments. Keep doing this for a few years until Isis detonates a nuclear weapon in a U.S. City ... then maybe we will get off our butts.
