Has anyone a recommendation regarding a company to replace a gas water heater? I fear a relative in TV may be in need of this service real soon. I think TECO will do it, but wonder if anyone else will do it less expensively. Thanks in advance :)
TECO has a list of licensed contractors you can pick from. They all get $300-400 for labor plus the appliance profit (outrageous!). Home Depot and Lowes also sub-contract the work. Water Heaters manufactured AFTER June 1st must meet the new energy saving standards and will cost $100-200 more than older ones. You may still find pre-6/1/15 heaters in stock if you're lucky. I knew this was coming last month so ordered mine for $379, installed it myself and just got a rebate check from TECO for $350. Replace 15 Y.O. heaters before they fail. It was a no-brainer. Cost me $29 and an hours time.

We are getting the TECO rebate, but you were correct about the cost - almost $ 1,000 before rebate (ouch). I hope the new owner enjoys many years of hot water.

I used Mike Smith Plumbing. I was happy with them.

Just so you know, sometimes you don't have to replace the outsides, just the insides. Much cheaper...Hubby and youtube did ours, and he is not very mechanically inclined.

Please if you decide to tackle the replacement yourself remember this is a GAS appliance.Be sure you know what you are doing.

We just replaced our water heater. We used kiley and sons. Was $860. Got a $50 rebate from them and $350 from Teco. We would highly recommend them.

Mike Scott Plumbing did mine this year. They also took care of the Teco gas credit. Nice job and great heater.
