my bad cholesterol is a bit high. I have heard that red yeast rice supplement has natural statins in it. I am wondering if anyone has tried this product and lowered their cholesterol.

Yes my husband uses it. He cannot tolerate the statins prescribed by his doctor. I heard about red yeast rice years ago and bought it for him. No side effects and good cholesterol

Tried it and had side effects, do some research (WebMD or equal), and talk to your doctor. Wife loves the stuff.

Good news for those who have muscle pain or other side affects from statins.

It was announced on national news LAST WEEK that a new drug is being successfully tested that will help those who previously could not tolerate the cholesterol lowering drugs now available.

If VPL were here he would say if you ate a plant based diet presented by Dr. Essestyn that you would not have high cholesterol, and I would have to argue that science seems to point more to a genetic factor as a cause for higher bad cholesterol.
