View Full Version : Restless legs..and how you got them

At a neighborhood party, a lady was telling me about a home remedy for restless leg syndrome. It sounded almost comical. Well, at 3 AM my legs were getting crazy on me. I took her advise and within minutes my legs were calm. I was amazed. What was it? Believe it or not, you take a bar of Irish Spring and place it in the sheet by your calves. I wrapped mine in a guest towel one layer thick. Was it the power of suggestion? Who knows. I was just so grateful that it worked. At last sleep found me.
I don't know how I got them or why. Do you?

Uh oh. This ended up in the fem forum. Don't men get restless leg syndrome as well?

Strange things can happen...but Sammie, was your advisor wearing a headdress of any kind??? ;)
I have one for you...legs cramping? Bite your lower lip. Like acupuncture it relieves the cramp.

No headdress. In fact she is an elegant, beautiful lady.

There may actually be some validity to the Irish Spring cureall for restless leg syndrom,
Irish Spring is the only soap that uhumm, lets say has some awful irritating effects on certain parts of my body. I wonder what is in that soap to cause such dramatic effects both good and bad? :dontknow:

Sorry to hear that, Nonie. LOL
As an aside, another neighbor gave me another tip that I tried for the first time this AM.
Use baking soda as an exfoliant. I tried it and my skin feels wonderful. Bright told me about using it in my shampoo and I like that, too.

You gals are just full of good information this morning.
Irish Spring - didn't they used to advertise that as "made for a man, but I like it too" cooed a woman. Hmmmm, does make you wonder what the active ingredient is. lol

I use Irish Spring. I like the clean smell it leaves on your skin.

I have to try Irish Spring. My legs go dancing around the room at night without me! :o It's a very annoying thing, and it keeps my cats hopping! My legs are so restless, I tell them to get up and read a book! But do they listen? Nooooo! Vetman could sleep through a hurricane. I'll give it a try.

It's called a "counter irritant." Removing the concentration on one pain to another pain, thus reducing the first pain.
Do you suppose that a second husband could be called a counter irritant? Ohhh no no, oops...sorry. Bad analogy, huh? :dontknow:
samhass
08-06-2008, 01:35 AM
LOL, Barb, you've got your funny on today!
The soap did not irritate me as I had it wrapped in a towel. I also put it between my calves...not my thighs ;). Calves, Nonie, not thighs or higher! 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl
You women are the best. You always bring a smile to my face.

When I read the heading of a thread, sometimes I have a fleeting impression that it might actually be a serious topic. ;D
Then Nonie highjacks it with her sexual implications, Chels adds her restless legs getting up and reading a book, and Barb offers insight on a husband being useful as a counter irritant.
You go girls! I think TOTV is keeping us all young! 1rnfl

Hey Bare, I wasant being sexual really! It just hurt like hail!!!! thats all, just a very irratating soap to my delicate soft sensual skin, thats all!
But if it works for crazy legs, go for it!

Chels, before you start playing hide the soap, you'd better take our Nonie's words about irritation to heart. Hide the soap and you may not be hiding anything else for a while.
I think I read that somewhere. :read: ;) LOL

Also, Md Blondie said "Girls, I just love you all and can't wait to see you again, and meet others."
Blondie...be careful what you wish for. We girls sometimes "ain't right"....meaning of course that we love being silly and having fun but acting like we don't have good sense. Oh, and we also do not like having restless leg syndrome. :cop:
It interferes with our senses of humor. We look forward to meeting you!

Ditto, Sam, and if laughter is the best medicine I am going to be very healthy when I get to TV, but actually, I think Chels has a better cure for RLS, and I can't wait to hear about it. :joke:

You gal's are very funny. I enjoyed your sex talk but I did not hear much in the way of advice about restless leg or leg cramps. I do get both. My DR. recommended Magnesium pills. They do not help me much. The banans don't help and neither did the soap. The only thing that worked wonders for me where Quinine pills. Unfortunately they are not available in the USA anymore. You can still get them in Canada. Stay loose.
