Hi all. I am looking for a vet who is excellent with cats. We need someone who can help with respiratory allergies and who doesn't just put the animal on steroids. If there is a vet who also utilizes natural remedies, that would be a plus.
Thanks so much.

I really like Dr. Valdez at Park Heights Veterinary Clinic in Fruitland Park. When my Gabby had a brain tumor, they were incredibly knowledgeable and caring, even though she couldn't be saved. The public part of the office looks like something right out of the 70's but the treatment end has a lot of the modern equipment. To me, the other plus is he doesn't hesitate to say he can't treat something and recommend the Gainesville Veterinary School. While I have not talked to him about holistic/herbal treatments, I have friends who have and are pretty satisfied with his responses.

If you're looking for a holistic vet, the only one of which I'm aware is
Dr. Gerald Wessner. We didn't have a lot of success though, when we got him involved in treating our dog's chronic ear infection.
But if you want to go holistic, he's probably your man.

We used Dr. Porter to successfully operate on our 17 year old cat with cancer. But he is a traditional Vet, not holistic.
He is on CR 301 in Wildwood, 352-748-6348.
