dental mouth pieces for sleep apnea

Need to hear from those with mod - severe sleep apnea if they have had a mouth piece made by their dentist. Would like to know if these work vs using a Bi-Pap machine.

I have a custom made mouthpiece and c c pap machine. I travel and found the mouthpiece easier to transport vs c pap. PM me to learn more . Note: I had to pay out of pocket $2,00 + for the mouthpiece,, it was not covered under my insurance, the c pap and its paraphernalia is. Something to think about!

Does it do as well as the cpap? Just hate the mask/tubing and would like to find something else not so cumbersome.

Can you tell us what dentist here does this? My husband uses a C-Pap machine. Sounds like something he could use when we travel.

Village Dental does it. I checked into it a few years ago while I was getting a new fixed bridge. At $2,000+ it was too pricey for me. Isn't that a ridiculous price for plastic and probably a little metal? I read some reviews on the Internet and there is an adjustment period since it moves the lower jaw forward.

What a coincidence. I just received my "adjusted" mouthpiece back from American Sleep Union and I can't get it to fit on my teeth properly. It is so uncomfortable that I didn't even attempt to sleep with it last night.

The deal is supposed to be that they charge you $10.00 and send you the kit to form the device to your teeth. After you've followed their instruction, you send it back to them for a final fitting. When you get it back you have thirty days before they charge you the final $100 price.

I sent mine back and they told me that I didn't get a good enough impression after I had followed their instructions to the letter. They sent me a new one with different instructions and I did again followed the instructions.

It looks like the only thing that was done is they added four pieces of velcro to the bite surfaces so that they don't move at night.

I noticed that they charged my credit card $40.00 recently so I'm going to have to see what that is all about. I will be returning it for their guaranteed refund.

Just relating my experience. Maybe others have had good experience.

My brother had one made by his dentist and it didn't help.

I saw on facebook, someone sent me a link to a new device that just goes onto your nose....no hose or machine. looked awesome, but not on the market yet.
