I saw it was 99 degrees in The Villages a couple of days ago. Just wondering if anyone plays golf in that severe heat of the day. I can't imagine being outside for more than 5 minutes, let alone playing a round of golf.

Yes, the ladies that I play with do. They play at 10:00 a.m. to try to beat the heat but it's still really hot. I do not play in those high temperatures as my body reacts to the heat badly. I get dizzy and feel ill when I'm out in it for very long despite drinking plenty of water and gatorade.

Some people do adapt to the heat and play with no problem, I'm not one of those people. I opt to see if a t-time is available very early in the morning or after 5:30 pm in the evening.

For us, hot is good, cold is bad. We would prefer 95 degrees to 50 any day. Cold is for up North!:pepper2:

I've been getting a tee-time around 8 or earlier on executive courses and after 5 once a week on champion. I drink lots of water, have fan in golf cart and park in the shade as much as possible.

I do.
I walk the execs and carry an umbrella and stay under it except for tee shots and iron play. I putt with one hand. I only carry a 6,9, putter and driver.
this is my umbrella (http://www.golfdiscount.com/sun-mountain-manual-umbrella?color=15347&gclid=CjwKEAjwh6SsBRCYrKHF7J3NjicSJACUxAh7ytntnGqi 0qmJrJ1YxjTSq3S9sNB_3aAKPJs0n-uB8RoCaajw_wcB&kwid=productads-plaid^119499401297-sku^68014-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^60425252057)

Play 18 holes 3-4 times a week. Drink water before we even start. Yes its warm and humid, but adjust to the weather. Drink 5 waters during round, plus eat cut up oranges. "Life is good" in The Villages!!

We are from Houston and we think the temperature here is "cool". I play in a Sunday group that tees off at noon-best time of the day

I like the warm climate here in TV, my sweetie call that heat. Anyway, sometimes I play when it is 95, but sometimes I play golf at the computer, too, depends how I am feeling or mood. Already set up Tee-times I always play (my personal rule).

Yep. Pretty much every day, morning and afternoon; trying to get as much in before shoulder surgery on Thursday because there won't be any golf for at least 5 months. :(

I played yesterday at 4:30 to appease my little golf friends who don't seem to mind the heat! It was lightening when we got to hole 5 and I was delighted to see it! Temp was 100 according to my iPhone! Don't plan to do that again!:beer3:

Walked Truman today starting at 11:30. Pretty intense...especially that uphill finish. I prefer evening golf, but I'll play any time! :)

What you lose in January you gain in June and I'm talking about less crowded golf courses so forget the heat and play because come October ...............

While I think, thus far, this has been the hottest summer of my 25 years in Florida, I play golf in the middle of the afternoon with no problem. One tip, wear moisture wicking fabrics.

Here is a website explaining moisture wicking fabrics:
Moisture Wicking: What is it? (http://info.runjanji.com/blog/bid/275595/Moisture-Wicking-What-is-it)
Most pros wear moisture wicking fabrics, so you can find golf shirts from Nike, Under Armour, Adidas etc. I also buy those brands in moisture wicking shorts.

Those fabrics are great but if you don't have them just change into gym shorts and shirt when you get home. It's almost as good.

Syncope? Had same symptoms but finally saw Elrctrophysiologist, had "table test" and was diagnosed as Syncope. Medication now helps.

I tried to post a picture of a golf cooling towel, makes golfing in heat tolerable.... The "ole boy" played Monday, and in spite of the heat shot a 65, but
swears that playing 18 holes this summer will NOT happen again, he was looking forward to LAST hole!.... Will be playing golf early and nine holes only..
When I played in summer, always played early and 9 holes only.

Thank you. I had the same surgery on the right shoulder last Halloween; it pretty much took 5 months of DAILY therapy (3 days a week at the therapy place and the rest at home) to play golf that soon as damaged as it was. I live across St. Charles from Southern Star and I imagine I'll be clawing the walls and going :loco: after the 1st week.

GOOD LUCK. Driving thru PT daily for months is not easy (as you know). Putting in the pain now will deliver long term benefits.
Please keep us informed of your progress.

The theory behind moisture wicking fabric is that it draws the sweat away from your body and then dries quickly. This allows more air flow and allows your body to cool more efficiently. The point is to keep cooler while you are out in the heat, not what you can do when you get home.

Do people really go out in the snow and do things like ski or build snowmen?

Sure do. Lots of water and a little slower play.
