I know of the two airport van companies, but I cannot find info on internet about any regular ole bus service between The Villages and Orlando, or any other city for that matter. Is there none?

I don't think so. I don't know why there wouldn't be either. Villagers seem to be good candidates for that kind of service.

I'm not sure why but Florida does not seem into mass transit. After all, How many years did it take to get light rail in orlando? And it is only marginally successful.

You can take buses from here to Orlando. There are about 4 buses involved and will take you about 6 hours. Also it is not all day service you have to start in morning for mid afternoon to airport. I didn't attempt the route back as I some routes stop running earlier than others.

The links Cunninghams' Home Service is what I used to cobble the trip together. It took me about 15 minutes to figure it all out. Also wouldn't try in this heat if you don't want to walk. There are a couple of nearly 1/4 mile walks at 2 of the stops.
