I don't know if that is true but if it were, what a shame. All those girls counting on the pageant and the jobs involved in producing The Apprentice don't seem to be a proper trade-off. It's downright silly. The man spoke his mind and he's being chastized? Gimme a break NBC, grow up!

Only because he strayed from the NBC party line and the current political agenda.
It is what you get when people speak openly without talking points and scripts.
Being released from NBC..... non significant event for Trump.

Shows the character of Trump and NBC - no?
I bet he prevents anyone from NBC from golfing on any of his golf courses as he did to Univision!
Maybe FOX will pick up the shows and replace The Simpsons!

And I quote from the horse's mouth...
"When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best," Trump said on June 16 when announcing his candidacy for president. "They’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems. They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime. They’re rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they’re telling us what we’re getting."

Just guessing that NBC has a legal department that took a lawsuit by Trump into consideration before firing him. None of us know what is in Trump's contract.

Generally, when you run for President you no longer stay emoloyed in media. A conflict of interest issue. Trump was going to part from NBC no matter what. Turns out he made it easy on himself and did it the Trump way.

Insult 17% of the population then wonder why they can't win a presidential election. Not one republican came out and chastised Trump for his remarks, especially Jeb Bush, who is married to a Mexican woman.

Of all those Mexicans that Trump employs, what percentage do you believe are legal immigrants that have the real documentation to back it up? IF Trump's companies hire any illegal immigrants, shouldn't they be given huge fines and Trump - being the conglomerate head - be held legally responsible and given prison time?

Trump is from NY, not NJ. Calling Christie "Krispy Kreme" is indicative of the problem most voters have. Let's judge candidates by their ideas, not their size, not their hair or whether they wear pantsuits.

I am not an NBC viewer and in fact find the alpahbetic stations NBC<CBS<ABC wanting but for a very few programs this is especially true for NBC Universal .
Now toDonald Trump. Trump told NBC he would no longer be doing the Apprentice show(I do not watch) and they became upset trying to work a deal. so he quit the show he wasn;t fired but the left can't stand the truth.
Univision puled out of their 5 year contract with the Miss America/Universe how that Trumps owns because of his "racist"remarks.
Univision and Huffington both published an article indicating 80% of the illegal alien women attempting to cross the border were being raped. Trump has filed a $500 million dollar suit against Univision for breach of contract and they are already trying to negotiate a deal.
Anyone trying to take Trump on is going to ride that tiger.
My take on Trump running for president from the beginning was of course his ego would like to see him elected president but the real reason he is in the race is to change the national conversation and he is the only one who can do that. With the liberal media refusal to offer balanced and honest news it is going to take a guy like Trump to offer honest conversation
People of all politicial persuasions should rejoice if we get an open and honest presidential because tis great ship, America, is listing too far port and we need to all start acting like grown ups because Greece just gave us a taste of our future if we don't. so those of you on this forum that continue with snide remarks better take control of your emotions and if you are able begin your analysis of what is happening or not happening to this nation.
We have had the weakest recovery from a recession in 70 years we are in debt up to our heads we no longer have the will to fight and we have poor foreign policy.

Comical that some people think Trump could be an effective President because he is a tough businessman. In Washington, the President has to go by their rules and not boardroom style. Trump would be blown out of the water at every level.
The poster says Americans do not have the will to fight and we have poor foreign policy. The poor foreign policy IS because we were put in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan and Vietnam TO fight when we had no business being there n the first place.

Totally disagree with your assessment of the previous poster's post. I followed it and understood his message loud and clear. I particularly agree with this part -
"My take on Trump running for president from the beginning was of course his ego would like to see him elected president but the real reason he is in the race is to change the national conversation and he is the only one who can do that. With the liberal media refusal to offer balanced and honest news it is going to take a guy like Trump to offer honest conversation."
Before logging on here today, I was thinking the exact same thing. Electable or not, Trump is not afraid to speak up and go against the grain. That type of courage is the only thing that will bring real conversation to the political table rather than partisan bickering which most of us have had enough of. The only better thing that could happen is if the Democratic party had the guts to present a similar non-political candidate that would have the courage to do the same.
Disclosure: Sorry for the grammar - haven't had my second cup of coffee yet this morning and in a rush to get out the door. Enjoy your day everyone!

While entitled to your own opinion it is obvious you have no understanding of the concept of leadership.
What is demonstrated by Washington is a politics, negotiated, crony, special interest, highest donor, what will get me re-elected mode of self centered actions.
A real leader does not need to know how or why the existing mode works to be effective. They will assess the execution and results, if any, attained. Promises kept; cash flow; profitability; planning (whether existent or not).
Where something or someone is not functioning as expected they will repair, remove or replace people and operations. Yes including career cronies taking up space and collecting benefits.
ANYONE ever involved in the rescuing of troubeled companies would have no problem identifying that which does not work effectively in Washington.....which would be most of it.
I will support a successful executive with a track record of performance improvement any day over any the career phony politicians.....ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANY DAY!!!!!!

The political workings of Washington are not like the work of running a business. You and I might very much would like it that way BUT the Civil Service laws and regulations which were put into place for employee safety prevents a lot of business acumen from taking place. While some may say these Civil Service laws are outdated, they are still law and repealing them would be next to impossible.

While some may say these Civil Service laws are outdated, they are still law and repealing them would be next to impossible.
Adding on to this post is that the Civil Service laws were enacted in the late 1800's to prevent political cronyism and then revised in 1949 and again in the mid 1980's.
The President has some political appointees and these employees do not have the same safety net as employees in the competitive civil service. At the end of a President's term, those political appointees are let go - without retirement benefits - and the new President will bring in his or her new appointees. These appointees are in the Excepted Service and there is always a push at the end of a Presidential term to have them get competitive positions. This is called "burrowing in". It always gave HR a headache to have to do this.
So, as much as we may not like political people vs business leaders, the business leader would not be able to work as though he were in a boardroom vs an Oval Office. Federal rules and regulations prevent that and they would be nigh impossible to get rid of by a President.

The bankruptcies were pre-pacaged deals with a known financial outcome. All legal and allowed by those smart enough to take advantage. The laws allow such "financial maneuvering ".......
And no one said he or any other competent CEO/executive would try to run Washington from a corporate conference table.
They will have more smarts to either use or change the existing broken and ineffective, cost prohibitive crony system. They will make decisions VS political eye wash and party BS.

I meant it as the British term "maroon". It is a firework that makes a loud bang, used mainly as a signal or warning. No politician or television personality makes a louder bang than Trump and he is signalling a warning to other politicians to get on the stick and to take him serously.

Trump is the perfect Mouthpiece for the right wing wackos. He has ridiculous ideas, runs his mouth without engaging his brain, lacks ethics, has no loyalty for anyone including spouses, employees, business partners, and "friends". He inherited a small fortune and used it to drive into bankruptcy, leaving creditors who trusted him and his word holding the bag for his debts. Finally he succeeded in an overheated real estate market and acted like he built everything on his own back. Sleazy is not an adequate descriptive word to describe this leech on society. In other words he is an excellent example of a republican candidate.

"One email from the State Department's dump of Hillary Clinton files Tuesday night caught the eye of Twitter.
"I heard on the radio that there is a Cabinet mtg this am. Is there? Can I go? If not, who are we sending?" Clinton, the former of secretary of state, emailed aides Lona Valmoro and Huma Abedin on Monday, June 8, 2009.
Yes, Hillary Clinton found out about a Cabinet meeting on the radio, and appeared to freak out and worry she wasn't invited. "

And our White House who now it appears was lying about no knowing...
"Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama's top aides, including David Axelrod, communicated with Hillary Clinton at her private email address while she was secretary of state, new records show.
White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel had also asked for Clinton's email address, and Clinton instructed her staff to give it to him.
Her use of private email was out of step with the State Department's rules against employees regularly using personal email for work purposes. Obama officials -- including Axelrod -- had said they were unaware Clinton was using a personal email address. He told MSNBC this month that he would have asked questions about it if he'd been aware of her email habits.

As with every person, successful Or not, he has many business partners. Trump has used borrowed money to fund his ventures - are those creditors not business partners? He benefited from Mark Burnett's brainchild to become the face of "The Apprentice", which was funded and promoted by NBC - are they not business partners. Of course to hear him tell it he did it all himself, trampling those in his way. Then in his numerous bankruptcies he left people who had trusted him with their money holding the bag so he could go on to tap other people to fund his risky ventures, some of whom have benefited while many more were left as "collateral damage". I am a fan of honest, ethical capitalism, and celebrate those who build success on principled effort. Trump, alas, does not qualify.

My Dear Guest: Au contrairie It didn't stop Obama who ignored the constitution and congress for 8 years. So I guess being that Trump is a better businessman and a patriot who speaks directly and carries a big stick we might just get things back in order after he is elected both domestically and foreign. Quite frankly its going to take a president with an ego like Trump's to clean up the mess Obama/Democrats made of this country.
Honestl the last thing we need is to elect another left to moderate president. Trump in my mind is looking really good and with Carly Fiorina even better
I mean "can we all get along"mentality just seems not to be working.
Trumps loves this country. Trump has succeeded well in this country and understands every aspect of capitalism and knows who are friends and who are foe.
The responses from people and organizations publicly shunning Trump are political because they are trying to shut down this driving force that is not intimidated by political correctness or threats, etc because he is self sufficient intelligent creative and a class one fighter who knows how to negotiate and is beholding to no one and that latter point is critical because it makes him less likely to be bought and paid for like Obama and Clinton.

Please go re-read post 49. A maroon (not capitalized) is a British term for a firework that is a signal for danger or warning. I believe Americans used to call them railway torpedoes.
Now, this is not to be confused with a macaroon which is a delicious biscuit made from sweetened coconut.
Lots of confusing American terms. One I had a time getting used to was the "trunk" of the car. A trunk, in my thinking, was in front like on a beast and that "boot" just made more sense.
Sorry for the mix-up.

I meant it as the British term "maroon". It is a firework that makes a loud bang, used mainly as a signal or warning. No politician or television personality makes a louder bang than Trump and he is signalling a warning to other politicians to get on the stick and to take him serously.
Actually, I thought it was a play on the word moron.

The reason I and many other conservatives like Trump is because he's Not a politician, not afraid to tell the truth (ref borders) makes a good negotiator, knows the financial disaster this country is in, is willing to sit and listen to experts on major decisions etc. Trumps ego doesn't bother me in the least. I would rather have a president with a good healthy ego than the arrogant one in office now. After all Trumps message is good. He's rich, he is successful because yes he built it, he did it himself without handouts. That alone is something to brag about and a good role model for the younger generation Trump doing great in polls. No 2 in Iowa, no 2 in new Hampshire a threat to the dems so they of course try to destroy him. Go Donald tell it like it is

Donald may be fun to watch as a TV personality but he IS NOT electable as President.
All indications show the final showdown will be Jeb Bush vs Hillary Clinton with Clinton winning the Presidency. :beer3:

It never gets old hearing about the financial disaster this country is in from the party that was losing 800,000 jobs per month, with unemployment hovering above 10%, when they left office. Add to that the Dow Jones Industrials was under 7000 in 2009.
Are you sure you really want to go down that path with the unemployment rate now heading into the 4% range?

A rich guy who fires people while bashing immigrants sounds just like Mitt Romney, and look how well that worked out for him.
Serta has just announced that they are severing all ties with Donald Trump, and New York City is reviewing all of its contracts with him.
Trump seems willing to see a lot of his business interests disappear. The question is, is he willing to take the republican party along for the ride.

Ah, yes......and then there's the truth. Wouldn't it be equally nice if the Dems could come up with a candidate that could speak the truth so boldly like Trump? How great would it be to get back to being a country where truth telling is valued versus what we see today where one is treated as a villain? Thanks for the links. The one regarding the heroin surge is particularly interesting to me as a medical person who is well aware of the government controls on synthetic opiates over the past couple of years. Great post - appreciate your effort to bring forth some truth in this discussion.

Did you even notice the first two links with US GOVT STATS ?
I am also researching a comment but will not post until I can validate concerning the rate of family rape in Hispanic families, and the birth rate of girls under 14 giving birth in Hispanic families.
This is not racist....this is dealing with facts that need to be discussed and not swept under the rug.
I personally experienced this culture difference in working with Hispanic youth years ago. It is real, and someday, somebody has to come off the clouds and face reality. It can be faced, but not by dismissing any uncomfortable truths.
Ann Coulter cites facts...if they make you uncomfortable, good. Now get informed and join the real world.

Again Trump's presence in this line up of presidential candidates is the wild card we need. Now we have someone who will not hold back. I like that he isn't a professional politicians and I am glad he is outing all of the hypocrisy being generated by candidates on both sides. So far Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina have my attention.
The Republican establishment best let the best man/woman win and not interfere as they did with Mitt Romney who in my view was the most suitable candidate in 2012.

We should have full disclosure. total transparency So Hillary what's up with the Clinton Charitable Foundation? where are all your e-mails in connection with Benghazi and your years at the State Department? Actually, friend, I used to listen to Coulter on my way to work on a regular basis. I also do read her columns. Coulter tries to be funny in a sarcastic way but is really a mean spirited writer. I hope that is just her persona and that she is a more decent person.
Trump only from the television show. And from the racist statement he made concerning Mexicans.
Limbaugh from a book of his and the horrible things he spoke of with the young lady and birth control.

1. Your spite filled comments always tend to bring this forum to its knees, and I must assume it is your intent, so congratulations.
2. NOBODY agrees with any, on either side, of the words spoken by their folks who are speaking out. I certainly am not even aware of most of what any of them even say, HOWEVER, I must tell you that i do in fact read both sides and no matter their politics, I do consider what they say.
3. You just cannot use the terms you use over and over and over again. It appears that anyone who does not come around to your way of thinking is a racist, which even you know is not true, but it is the single one thing you can say. NEVER do I see factual replies to any posts; simply call them a racist or whatever other hateful term is rolling off your tongue at the time.
4. The post that included the post using Ann Coulters comments also had TWO links to US Government websites which was NEVER commented on. AND, I posted it and never alluded to anything except her quote on which she is 100 PERCENT correct. NOBODY HAS SET OUT TO DISPROVE HIM. THEY JUST SIMPLY CALL HIM NAMES.
5. I do think that Trump over does it but he raises valid questions that need to be discussed and cannot be dismissed with sophmoric name calling, but if you are against discussing facts as presented by your government and need to stick with nothing but name calling, then that is you.....how you define yourself.

I address this to you as you seem to have taken the mantle of all great decider of what it in everyones heart, so let me ask this....if someone said this..would you call them a racist....
" “You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking!”
That was our Vice President
or....
"“White folks was in the caves while we [blacks] was building empires … We built pyramids before Donald Trump ever knew what architecture was … we taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.”
That was Al Sharpton
or...
"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) apologized today for referring to President Barack Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect" in private conversations during the 2008 presidential campaign".
Of course that was the democratic leader of the Senate.
Are these comments fine and dandy for some reason that escapes me ?

And this from the former President and husband of the Democratic front runner...
referring to our current President Obama....in speaking to Ted Kennedy
"“A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee,”
No problem with that ?
And of course our Vice President continues in speaking of our President...
"“I mean you’ve got the first sort of mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and nice-looking guy.”
This stuff seems to pass you by and thus my assumption is you don't give a rats behind about racial justice...you simply call everyone a racist because for some reason it is the "in" thing to do with liberals today, which is amazing....the history of the liberal movement and the Democratic party is full of racist acts and statements.

Again, just to help the anointed one who feels calling any Republican a white sheet racist or some such thing, just a few things he may not know but should if he is that involved and sensitive to race. Ever notice that you do not hear Republicans call other people racists or bigots much....well...
1. The Republican Party was founded primarily to oppose slavery, and Republicans eventually abolished slavery. The Democratic Party fought them and tried to maintain and expand slavery. The 13th Amendment, abolishing slavery, passed in 1865 with 100% Republican support but only 23% Democrat support in congress.
2. During the Civil War era, the "Radical Republicans" were given that name because they wanted to not only end slavery but also to endow the freed slaves with full citizenship, equality, and rights.
3. The Ku Klux Klan was originally and primarily an arm of the Southern Democratic Party. Its mission was to terrorize freed slaves and "ni**er-loving" (their words) Republicans who sympathized with them.
4. n the 1950s, President Eisenhower, a Republican, integrated the US military and promoted civil rights for minorities. Eisenhower pushed through the Civil Rights Act of 1957. One of Eisenhower's primary political opponents on civil rights prior to 1957 was none other than Lyndon Johnson, then the Democratic Senate Majority Leader. LBJ had voted the straight segregationist line until he changed his position and supported the 1957 Act.
5. The historic Civil Rights Act of 1964 was supported by a higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats in both houses of Congress. In the House, 80 percent of the Republicans and 63 percent of the Democrats voted in favor. In the Senate, 82 percent of the Republicans and 69 percent of the Democrats voted for it.
6. Contrary to popular misconception, the parties never "switched" on racism. The Democrats just switched from overt racism to a subversive strategy of getting blacks as dependent as possible on government to secure their votes. At the same time, they began a cynical smear campaign to label anyone who opposes their devious strategy as greedy racists.
A Short History of Democrats, Republicans, and Racism (http://russp.us/racism.htm)
I have told this story before and it is true as true can be. I had a high position with the Democratic party in the early 70's on a state level. I left the party when I realized what they were doing to the blacks, and how they were being used.
I am very sensitive to this because I lived it and am just sick of hearing all this stuff from people who do not know what they are talking about, and sadly do not even care that they do not know.
Point is, get off your high horse. Alinsky taught you well. Attack personally and do not stop.

I am just sick of the tired old racist call. Not sure how I made it personal...never mentioned names although most on here know who he/they are who use that slander kind of language. They do not feel it is personal.
I am just tired of it and will not tolerate that racist bigot call any longer. People on here deserve better than to be called names simply because they do not agree with certain people
I apologize to anyone who reads and feels I was being personal. Just understand how tired I, maybe nobody else, but I am tired of that term being used to conceal ignorance and laziness in not wanting to actually learn anything or discuss on a mature level.

Go Donald tell it like it is
You call using other people's money and abusing bankruptcy law, leaving them holding the bag as "doing it by himself without handouts"? Role model for younger people......seriously? Puleeeeez get all your right wing loonies to nominate that pompous sleaze bag blow hard, assuring a Democrat landslide in the general.

What the heck are you talking about? Take your meds.

And by the way, NUMBER 6 IS THE MOST CORRECT OF THEM ALL.
Do a bit of reading and learn....I lived it....it is true and denying that truth which if you do any reading at all, can be verified, is your loss.
The Democratic party did not suddenly become so equal rights concerned just over night in the mid 60's. I give them credit...they were and continue to be smart about it. They recognized an opportunity and jumped on it.

I am for sure not a fan of Trump but notice that much of what you attack him for applies equally to the leading democratic candidate, except I am not aware of any bankruptcy involved. But she certainly has used a lot of people and earlier someone mentioned his character which is fuzzy I agree, but hey....it applies even more to the democratic candidate so at best it is a draw on the points you feel are important.
I only like Trump because he will force discussion and I hope the media will do their job and allow or insist that conversation cross the aisle.

Gotta love it. Some have a limited vocabulary. You are either a tea partier, a racist, a bigot or carrying a white sheet...all you gotta do is disagree. Then they add the "take your meds". Thanks for the suggestion.
I posted THREE links for discussion concerning problems with immigrants coming in our southern border.
A poster IGNORED TOTALLY the first two which were links to government sites, and focused instead on a Coulter article only linked as I explained because she made a very valid point about the media coverage.

No need to waste any time on Trump. He will not be the Republican candidate. No chance at all.
Concentrating on Scott Walker and what he can do for the Republican party and how he can effectively get the economy back on track and keep the country safe is the priority now.
He will be the candidate and everyone should get behind him with volunteerism and money to get him over the 270 electoral votes.

I have a couple of minor quibbles with your post, which I agree with in the main.
1. Your statement that the Republican party was created to end slavery is a bit overblown. In fact, in a letter to newspaperman Horace Greeley, President Lincoln stated that his sole purpose was to maintain the Union and that if that could be done without freeing any slaves, he was willing to do that. He also felt that after the slaves were freed they should be deported to some other country. He did not envision a racially integrated nation.
2. You neglected to mention that the 14th Amendment, granting citizenship to former slaves, passed with 94% Republican support and 0% (Zero) Democrat support.
3. When the Klan was organized, Democrat and former Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest became Grand Wizard, claiming to be the Klan's national leader. The Klan murdered not only freed slaves but also Republicans in the South.
4. The order to racially integrate the military was made by President Truman, not President Eisenhower. It was done on July 26, 1948, by Executive Order 9981. What Eisenhower did do was use the 101st Airborne to enforce court orders to integrate Arkansas public schools.
5. The historic Civil Rights Act of 1964 would not have passed had it not been for manipulation of the rules in the Senate by Republican Leader Mike Mansfield who rushed the bill to the floor for a vote. When President Johnson signed the bill into law he gave the first Ceremonial Pen to Mansfield. He later explained to his daughter Lynda that he did this because the bill would not have passed without the Republicans. She mentioned it in a speech at the LBJ ranch a few years ago.
6. The ludicrous claim that the parties have "switched" on racism is claimed by Democrats who are ashamed of their party's record. They claim that the early Republicans were "liberal" and now the Democrats are "liberal" so there must have been a switch. Perhaps they should research the term "Dixiecrats."
I share the frustration of "Guest" regarding the general ignorance of our history throughout the country.

Can you tell us the demographic makeup of the Republican party? What percentage of the African American vote did Romney receive and what percentage of the woman vote did Romney receive? What percentage of the Republican party are minorities?
Until the voters perceive the Republicans as a party of inclusion :beer3:, they are not going to have another President.

You do not read well.
It has been said on a number of posts that the black votes are democratic.
They went after them with an opportunity. The Republicans felt comfortable with that vote because the Democrats were the anti black party.
The democrats deserve a POLITICAL "good job" because they seized an opportunity but have used the US government to maintain that vote.
The manipulation of that single voting block has really hurt this country in a big way.

Any discipline that, such as "policital science", that has to put the word "science" in it's name always creates doubt in my mind as to whether it is really a science. Regardless, Alinski's ideas only work with a dumb electorate, which is what we essentially have. In that regard, I guess you could say he is brilliant for recognizing that most people are dumb.
Your points 1-5 are absolutely right.
You do seem to be doing a fair share of attacking personally.
I am not a Democrat. I am a Progressive. I only had one seminar under Saul Alinski. No matter what you think of his political views and methods, he was a brilliant political scientist.
Take care. :beer3:

Thanks for your post.
I had forgotten about Mike Mansfield's involvement in the civil rights passage.
I have calmed down a bit, but am just got weary of these uneducated, history disadvantaged people who post on here. I am weary of the posts claiming how Democrats are the saviors of the disadvantaged, which is ludicrious and so very untrue. I am weary of the calls of racism against all Republicans when the Democratic party was the poster children for racism until the Republican party was able to pass the civil rights bill.
I am also weary of the posters that are just intellectually unable to respond to others and have an discussion, and show their true character with the calls of "racists", "bigots" and references to white sheets (which their political party invented).
Thanks again for your post

Mansfield was a Democrat so that story does not make sense. It is true that without the GOP votes the Civil rights bill would have failed. That is because a large number of Democrat senators were Dixiecrats and many later left the Dem party and joined the GOP. The Dirksens and Rockefellers of the 1960 GOP would no longer be welcome in the modern party, just as the Thurmonds and Wallaces would no longer be welcome in the Dem party of today.

Much of what you say is true, but this conversation on this forum on this day alluded to the "holier than thou" liberal Democratic posters alluding to, implying, and actually attacking anyone not a Democrat as a racist, bigot, white sheet carrying person,
The intent was to finally call to their attention that they, the liberal movement, and the Democratic Party were in fact the owners of racism, began much if it and yet act as if they are the chosen ones.
If you know history, then you are aware of the racist, bigoted roots of their movement. They condemn an entire party with their UN educated posts.
This entire conversation was rooted in that premise.
Applauding the Democratic Party for smart politics in the 60's and 70's in how they manipulated the minority vote is in line, but to ignore the fact that they did and still do manipulate that vote , now to the detriment of our country, is just plain not paying attention

I do not know where I read this and cannot enclose in quotes, but the thought is, to me, spot on, recently.
This involves all the name calling and labeling that takes place on here and other places...
While claiming to embrace individuality, the central idea of liberalism is actually groupthink. If you disagree, you are a fool and in need to be re educated or deserving of ridicule. Opposition should not be listened to and discussed in an open forum, but mocked. In other words, liberalism is what it claims to dislike: Forced conformity.
My apologies to the author, but as I read on here, this becomes so clear.

Negotiations with Iran on going
ISIS continues to kill at will
Greece is broke
And the only thing on cable news is DONALD TRUMP, and one comment on immigration, yet to be proven untrue by the way.
He must be getting inside someones head because he is not going to get the nomination yet that is all we hear about.
Incredible, can't wait to discuss Hillary Clinton and..

I'm so old I remember when Hilary was too old and too rich to be president. Well, Donald Trump is two years older than Hilary, and Trump's nine billion dollar wealth could buy and sell the Clintons about 100 times over.
Trump is so rich he makes the Clintons look like paupers, and he is in first place in many of the recent polls for the republican nomination for president of the United States. Go figure.

Heres the deal.......Trump has no shot at the nomination; he and everyone knows that.
Hillary Clinton will be the nominee.
Trump brags about being rich.
Hillary Clinton does not, and in fact speaks about the disparity but she is also rich thus not sure how she handles that.
Trump is in first place only because of all the fuss
Hillary is in first place because she is the entitled one.
Trump has all his baggage out there for ridicule and much of it is well deserved.
Hillary tries to hide it and thus will make for an interesting campaign which is well down the road.
Trump, at least it appears, has no skeletons in his closet\
Hillary has a closet FULL of skeletons.
Yet Trump gets all the headlines right now. He has awakened and is saying things that a lot of americans want to say, true or not....he is beginning conversations, and they are conversations that need to be had.
This last fiasco on immigration. Frankly, he is not far off if you look at our own government stats. He is not talking as dumb as people make it sound.
Frankly he will be out sooner than later, but on the surface at least we do not need to pull from this candidate all the secrets...we do not need to dig to find out where we KNOW she has buried things.
So when you say GO FIGURE. GO FIGURE how a woman who cheated knowingly with her email and the system even behind the Presidents back. IF not he was lying as well, but she did cheat and even the WH said that.
GO FIGURE how she lied about what was in those emails.
GO FIGURE how she will be the nominee with an absolute horrid record as Secy of State...reset in Russia (recall how she joined the President in mocking Romney on Russia and he was 100% correct)...or Libya where she led the overthrow of the government and Libya is now becoming the poster child for terrorist states once again, or Yemen which was touted as her success story.
GO FIGURE how Bernie Sanders pushes her more left and the result is her saying how the other party is moving far right
Yeah GO FIGURE is a good one but Trump will not be a nominee and Clinton will.
Now this is the biggest GO FIGURE for me....she has said that all her emails on that server were personal to her hubby, who has said he does not use email but the big GO FIGURE is...how can the WH declare executive privilege on private personal emails ?
Yeah Trump has no shot but he sure is getting the attention of MOVE ON for example....must be something there, hey ?

One thing you might want to go figure is how did each one make their money? From the sweat off their own back or off the backs of the people? That means a lot more to me than how much each has accumulated.

If someone uses a term like that to you on a post, then you should call them on it.
Most of the "slams" concerning liberalism, maybe all of them, are responses to being called a name ironically.
To my knowledge, I know of NO "conservative playbook" at all.
If you know of this "playbook" let us hear it.
My opinion, and this is simply my opinion, liberalism has become nothing more than a platform for social activists. If you disagree, I would love to hear why you disagree and that would make a great conversation. And be clear, I am not anti activism, but not the arrogant "in your face" type we have seen recently.
I will tell you that normally on this forum, it is at this point when a name is thrown. I, personally, have never called anyone a name. I certainly will get in your face about activism and disguising it as some political movement and am open to discuss that in total, but normally at this point, I am referred to as one of these...

I certainly will get in your face about activism and disguising it as some political movement and am open to discuss that in total, but normally at this point, I am referred to as one of these...
and old white curmudgeon
a white sheet award winner
a racist
a bigot
OR
told to crawl back in my hole and conversation ends, which actually always make the point I allude to.
Again, if a liberal thinker makes a point with no name calling and in return SIMPLY BECAUSE YOUR VIEW IS DIFFERENT, you are called a name, make a big deal of it and do it without resorting to calling names yourself.

If someone uses a term like that to you on a post, then you should call them on it.
To what end? If they're stooping to name calling, I doubt my chastising them will change anything.
Most of the "slams" concerning liberalism, maybe all of them, are responses to being called a name ironically.
There is plenty of unprovoked name calling by both sides. Definitely not limited to the liberals. There was an entire thread that indicated that all liberals were literally insane.
To my knowledge, I know of NO "conservative playbook" at all.
If you know of this "playbook" let us hear it.
That was my little reference to a few threads from the recent past when any time a liberal idea was presented it was derided as being "straight from the liberal playbook". As if a person couldn't have a sincerely held belief if it hadn't been instilled by some shadowy socialist screed.

You make a valid point. Politicians on both sides have studied Alinsky for sure.
In my opinion, again, it is the combination of activist type politics with an "in your face" mentality that brings this to the fore.
I DO however wait until someday, hopefully while i am alive, Ms Clinton's thesis is made public. It always was surprising that a college thesis would be made private.

I don't know if it a playbook, but is certainly the road the Republicans have taken. Negative ads work. They have made Karl Rove a lot of money. Obstructions works. McConnell is king of the filibuster. The Tea party has pushed the Republicans so far to the right, that they are off the grid. Whether you want to hear this or not, it has a lot to do with the color of the presidents skin, and his lack of governing experience before he was elected. Which no one can dispute.
How about playing on a level field. How many congressional hearing have there been on Benghezi (sp - I have a mental block about Benwhatever I don't want to hear or see it anymore). How many hearing were there on the Iraq war? Benwhatever isn't about the families of the four dead Americans any more. It is a political move to bring Hillary down. Does anyone believe that the current hearings won't last until late 2016?
The first rule in politics is say anything or do anything to get elected. Then run for reelection on your record. The Republican 16 have to cater to the far right in the primaries, because the far right votes in primaries. The winner will float back to the middle just like Romney. Nothing new there. It is the path conservative hopefuls have to take.
Hillary, on the other hand, needs the Clinton name to win. Her future political ambitions date back to middle 90's. Why else would a woman suffer the public humiliation she received due to Bill's idea of a good coffee break? were morals have to be rock bottom.
Trump is nothing but a bunch of hot air. His comments concerning Hispanics are down right wrong, and offensive. Fox News is trying to justify his comments by the recent murder in Frisco white woman killed by a illegal Hispanic. So, you paint all Hispanics with the same brush. Shouldn't you then paint all Republicans with the same brush, and all agree with Trump said? I know this doesn't apply, but apply that logic Hitler. A few Jews were greedy, and cause the depression. So, all Jews must be exterminated. He tried to follow through on his sick views. Are we going to do the same, and kick out all illegal Hispanics for the actions of a few? Trump assumes some Hispanic are good. That is right probably about 99%.
