View Full Version : Anyone Else Offended By Posts Regarding Animals?

Don't want to rant, but sort of ticked off right now. Is anyone else offended by my posts regarding animals? Got a PM complaint. Trying to do good to help animals find homes or to make people aware of adopting previously owned animals. I guess my most recently title had shock value that I wasn't aware of and was offensive to one reader. I can't please everybody and have stopped trying. Just trying to help the animals. Wish everyone was on the same page as me.

I don't understand how someone would be offended. If you don't want to read posts about animals, then do not read posts in the All About Pets section.

I think it's wonderful. If some are offended, they just don't need to read the posts. I would pay no attention to them.

Some people (me included) go on TOTV by going into NEW POSTS. By doing this, everything from all groups including PETS comes up. I'm guessing that this rude, uncaring person that messaged you is not aware that you were posting in the PET area. Regardless he/she had no right messaging you to complain.....that's being a jerk!!
I enjoy any posts that help our pets.

I always go to new posts. I look at the subject. If it doesn't interest me, I don't click on it.

Keep posting and working for the animals. Then post the name of the jerk that would PM you for doing something worthwhile so we might share our PM's with them.

The content of your posts to help rescued dogs are welcomed here as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't noticed any shock titles in your posts, Geo. I think you should just keep on keeping on!

We always have that option (blocking the poster), but, again, we could just skip the post if not interested. There are many headings I just pass by because they don't interest me or I know they will rattle me, so they are better not read.
I think she is doing a wonderful thing trying to help these poor rescues. I only wish I had the time and perseverance to do it so wholeheartedly. I found nothing "shocking" about her heading.

You don't think jay was going tO be euthanized is shock jock? Other people post Without that. Duffsmom has a Rescue. Someone a few days ago had to do with poodles Neither title was if it bleeds it leads. Again I love animals. I appreciate wHat others do to find them homes. My only objection is tHe way GeoGeo does it.

Keep up the good work. We have freedom of choice, and don't have to read threads which are of no interest. As many of you know, I'm contemplating getting another rescue pet (Yorkie) and am grateful to learn of pet adoption options from the comfort of my computer or Iphone. Until reading about these on TOTV, I had no idea they were "out there"

Not offended at all. I think what you are doing is GREAT! Who else is going to look out for the well being of these animals if we don't. If you can help match up one animal with one human, you have done a good thing in my book.
Keep up the good work.
I say, if the person is offended, STOP reading the post! It's pretty simple if you ask me.

But you can't not see the title, which was my point.

GeoGeo is a girl? Someone was offended? I like every single soul who has posted on this thread and glad that GeoGeo is helping find homes for furries..
There will always be someone who is struck wrong by something. I have been and been the only one. We are just peoples, all peddling as fast as we can.
I realize I don't have all of the time in the world left just because I am 75. It just hit me. We all are in the third or fourth quarter. Let's not get upset if we can help it. But we will. Because we are people.
It is another beautiful day in The Villages. Four good things have happened to me this day. How about y'all?

If you object to the way GeoGeo does it, why not block her?
Isn't WHAT she is doing way more important then how the title looks to YOU??

What should offend people is the fact that these animals have to be rescued in the first place, although I do understand in some cases it can't be avoided. If your our so-called offensive post found that little guy a good home I say offend away!

GeoGeo: Just want to add my voice to those who support you. Please continue to use this Forum to help the fur babies.
To avoid being offended, the unhappy TOTV member can go to Usercp/Settings and Options/Edit Ignore List and add your name.

You are so right!! It just bites my butt that anyone can abuse a poor dog...usually those are the ones, not so much kitties. I see a lot of this on my FB page and it just brings me to tears. If you are not an animal lover, so be it...don't have one! I applaud anyone that goes out of their way to help by fostering or helping to care for or place these animals. My big lottery purchase would be a farm to house as many rescues as I can get, and let them live out their lives happy and cared for.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't offending anyone else. Thank you for the feedback. My intentions are never to offend anyone. I hope the person who PM'd me will block my posts. Maybe the first time I read their PM I was a little more upset by it than I should have been. I later apologized. This person is an animal lover. So it had nothing to do with finding animals homes. It was all about the wording of the title. I don't feel like I did anything wrong and I believe we both have the right to disagree. It is very hard to watch the news, read a newspaper, visit websites, etc. when you are very sensitive to wording. I wish this person well.

How could you be offended when they weren't talking about you? If a couple words alone offends you, how can you ever sit through an entire movie or read the newspaper?
Thinking about your post, if it bleeds it leads totally offends me.

If it is the case that a dog or cat is about to be euthanized, I think it is good to report that to get someone's attention who might save that pet.
Even though we are at our two-pet limit (although really, a bird in a cage??? Count as a pet even if he does talk?), I open every single rescue post. I have pretend-rescued about ten dogs and a couple of cats on TOTV over the past several years. I pretend the cats would be bird friendly. I am working on wearing down my DH as to a second dog but so far...
Buddy would be mine, for sure, and maybe Jolene.

I hate to admit it, but I don't open the rescue pet posts. Not because I don't care but because I care too much. If I could, I would adopt every one of the critters but I have enough just keeping my two bratty cats satisfied.
Geo, the one thing I would suggest is that you let folks know you're trying to find a home for a rescue. Some of your posts don't make that quite clear and, like most here, I just go to new posts and click away. I'd really hate to miss your posting something other than about an animal needing help because it is a day where I can't bear to read about another's pain.

Keep up the good work of getting the word out for these furry babies. Nothing offensive about that! Time is of the essence for many of these poor creatures...nothing dramatic about that just plain sad!!!

It really bothers me when I read about abused or animals, that needs a home. My resources are very limited and impossible to contribute. That really bothers me. Unfortunately the people that abuse the animals, create the overabundance of animals that end up on the streets or shelters are never held accountable for the problem they create. I grab my dogs and give them hugs every time I can.

Just to add my strong support and gratitude for what you do for God's little creatures.
The person who felt it necessary to upset you with the PM should block your posts. Then the big scary bogey man would be gone.
God bless you.

Collectively, we could all become their worst nightmare. The one's that complain about animal posts are probably the same one's that abuse and abandon them.
