View Full Version : Brownwood Retail Stores Closed on the 4th?

I went to my very favorite store in Brownwood and they told me that they will be closed on the 4th. I was told that the developer is not allowing any retail to open on the 4th in Brownwood. I know that Lake Sumter always opens on the 4th but I don't know about Spanish Springs. That sounds pretty bizarre as they can open on Sunday but not on the 4th of July. Anyone else hear this.

No.
I heard it was the Supreme Court's fault and I also heard it is Bruce Jenner's fault too. But I don't know whether the stores will be open or closed. Better go now and get your shopping done to be on the safe side.

Which store might that be??
(Update: Had been planning to take in-laws cart shopping on Sat. while visiting, so called Villages Cart Store in Brownwood to check their hours - per their staff, they are open regular weekend hours. They had no idea about other stores in town. Maybe it's a store "owner" decision, not Developer??)

Call the store to find out. So far, the only store I've found that will be closed is Tommy Bahamas.

Cal's will be closed but not a store
The lease contracts for each square and each plaza are slightly different but similar. The plazas, like La Plaza Grande, have different hours than the squares.
On the squares the lease says you MUST be open from 10 AM to 9 PM every day.
The exceptions are Sunday you MAY close at 5 PM and Christmas, New Years, Easter and Thanksgiving you MAY close all day. No other variations are usually permitted.
Some places like Chic-fil-a get a special lease that says they can close all day Sunday, but in general all the stores and restaurants must be open those hours.
If you want to open at 8 AM, that's fine. If you want to stay open to 9:30 PM for a special occasion, that's fine too. If you want to open half day on Thanksgiving that's fine too.
Having (only) the Brownwood businesses being closed on Fourth of July is unusual. It must have been in their lease that July 4th is an exception day to the 10AM -9PM rule.
The developer wants all stores to be open the same hours and the same days.
He would NOT order stores to be closed (except for an unusual circumstance like hurricane threat) on any day.
I'm betting that some Brownwood stores will be closed and others will be open - whatever their lease (or change letter from CPM) states they MAY do.

with all the holiday festivities on the 4th I'm sure the restaurants will be open.
