They showed this Submarine Memorial on Jeopardy last night and I found it very cool the way they had some of their staff in the sub while they asked questions about it and gave some of this history of this submarine.

Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry has an exhibit of a captured Nazi Sub:

I remember touring a sub in Chicago when I was 7 or 8. Is this the same one?
There was a sub along the USS Alabama too when I toured it in 1996. USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park (http://www.ussalabama.com/)

Probably. I lived about 5 miles from the Museum until we moved to the burbs. I was at the museum the day the U505 was moved from Lake Michigan to its location along side the museum (about 2 blocks from the lake). That was around 1955 or so.
Could also been one visiting the old Chicago Navy Pier.
From Wikipedia: From 1979 to 1987, a submarine, the USS Silversides, was docked at Navy Pier.

The COD has been moored in Lake Erie at Cleveland's lakefront since 1959.
