We brought our new baby home today, twelve week old "Jasper" a male Yorkie from "Yorkies By The Lake" breeder. He is adorable, and our other pet, Meg, has taken kindly to him (of course, she's a lady) At almost 4 ounds, he has a little more growing to do, with an anticipated adult size of 7-8 pounds. Photos to follow :)

Congratulation!!!! Missed the video or photo of Jasper, but I'm sure he is extremely cute. Yorkies are. I bet your husband is very happy to have a little buddy again. Jasper is going to have a good life. :) Enjoy everyday with him.

Congratulations on your new Yorkie. I'm sure he is a cutie but, I missed his picture!

I got a puppy a couple of months ago -- a Shih Tzu. I haven't had a puppy for many, many years and forgot how much work they are!!! Kitties are so much easier!

I'm so glad that Jasper got a great home!

We have never owned a puppy, having always rescued senior dogs. I already acknowledge "potty training" is a challenge. Our single rug now lives in the garage while our living room floor is a patchwork of "p-pads". We tag team each other with cries of "he's heading your way - lookout", or "grab him quick, he's squatting". It's a whole new sport. Jaspar is very good natured as he's whisked thru the air "mid-squat" and unceremoniously placed on a paper. We recognize a challenge when we see one!

Jasper is so cute! Thanks for re-posting the picture.

Lexi has turned our house into a "gate and crate" home!! We have 5 gates and are down to 1 crate! Lexi has a great personality and wants to be a part of everything! She was quite vocal today when Mom and I crated her in our kitchen / foyer area so we could play games with our company! Poor girl!

Thanks again for posting the picture!

This little guy has put permanent smiles back on our faces (momentarily wiped away when we leap into action for what we call "P-Moves") The second blurr is actually Jaspar on the move... LOL
We are grateful for tile floors, steam cleaner machine, paper towel, bleach spray and patience. Life is simple

Look at it this way it is good exercise.

I miss the Yorkies that used to come to Doggie Doo Run Run even if they had way too much personality at times.

There are a few Yorkies around Lynnhaven even one with a name similar to that of our beloved Beau. There is Bo Derelict!

Are pee pads a better way to train small dogs? Serious question.

With our puppies, we would just dedicate two months to taking them outside (always to the same spot) every 15 minutes, eventually working up to every half hour and then every hour at three months. They were fully trained at 16 weeks. We never used pee pads, and we crated at night and when going out during the day.

Our breeder told us not to get them up in the middle of the night. They would learn fast.

But those were goldens. I don't know about little dogs. Maybe you could not get them outside in time if you see an accident happening?

How do you move from pee pads to outside training?

Good luck with Jasper. As they say, this too shall pass...er, be over with.:evil6:

CFrance. Thank you for such good advice as we are as confused as Jaspar. We finally achieved some success with a p pad in the lanai, I keep takin him out about 30 min intervals, He woke me up in the night and did both deeds on the pad outside (same spot). We know this process is not forever and hes a smart dog. A doggie door panel will arrive in a few days. It attaches to our slider door and has a doggie flap in the lower portion. The breeder had one, and our existing through the wall doggie door is too big for Jaspar to use, plus hed find himself in the middle of the tube's two flaps (one inside the house and the other outside) Hey, its more afforable than psychological counseling and more fun!!

It sounds like you know what you are doing. Obviously a p pad for a Yorkie would work a lot better than a p pad for a golden!:ohdear:

We ALSO love our little girl and looking for people that will "exchange" pet sitting. We had our little Yorkie trained in 3 weeks as they are VERY loving dogs and just want Love in return. They crave affection as mine is "always" laying at my feet or in my chair. She is 6 years old and absolutely would rather play with her ball than eat.

I've enclosed a few pictures and if by chance you need "company" for your little Yorkie in exchange for us taking care of yours for a day or two so you can "get away" for a few days just drop us a message.

Congratulations on your new family member. You made a wise choice :agree:

Yorkies are so cute! Congratulations on your new darling! We have standard size Yorkies. They grow all the way up to 15 pounds! They are a blessing to us and give us hours of fun. Wishing you years of furry fun!

I understand this is just scintillating for everyone out there in All About Pets, but Jaspar seems to have grasped some of the minor points of "going outside" and doing his duty. Cue sound track of bells, whistles, and applause. :a040: In the interim, hubby and I are in a heightened sense of awareness and poised ready to do the ten yard dash to the door with Jaspar clutched tightly (no room for error). As mentioned in my first post, we got our darling from a breeder in nearby Lake Panasoffskee (Yorkies By The Lake) and cannot believe our good fortune. This little dog has brought us so much happiness in just a few short days.

Dogs are great for therapy.
