Kitty were having a lot of problems with Brighthouse also. They have been to our house twice and we're still having problems. Comcast will be coming Tuesday for the same price were paying now with premium channels. Although, Comcast is know for having the worst customer service they do provide the best cable service, by far.

Gary, having a lot of problems also, I asked for credit for last month because I had little service and had to use my phone to get online.
I thought they fixed it on Friday but last nite my speed dropped to like 9Mbps. Up under 1
The tech guy said he would try but not sure he can get the credit.
Also what is the current Internet only rate for Brighthouse supposed to be.

There is a big Facebook discussion on this outage. It seems that all phone service is (or was) out including Brighthouse's own phone lines.

I have been bragging about Brighthouse for a long time to others. Now the rates have gone up way to high. Saw an add in the paper this morning for DirecTV and I am going to compare apples to apples.

Agree their rates are no longer competitive, I have direct for TV.
BH for tel & Internet is not $75, if I drop the tel it's $65 just for internet and that's only 15Mps
Comcast has a no contract deal thru Tom from Villages AV for $19 and the speed is double.

I also have Directv but we have Century Link for internet and phone. $59.99 plus tax for 10 mpbs and phone with unlimited long distance, caller ID and call block. We've been with them 4 years this month and have never had a price change and have never had any service outage in either.
BTW, I inquired about two months ago about faster speed, they said with my good history they could give me 40 mpbs for about $20 more. However, I don't have any problem watching Netflix on my smart TV or Youtube videos on my computer.

We have CenturyLink for internet only and it is $48/month for 40 Mbits/sec download/20 Mbits/sec upload including all fees, taxes, and router rental. You can do Ooma VoIP phone for about $3.50/month (you have to buy the box). Netflix only needs 3-5 Mbits/sec for Hi-Def so our bandwidth is a bit of overkill but it was part of the deal. Sign up for auto bill pay as that will save you some money also. Considering that it includes phone and you likely won't use the additional bandwidth, your deal is not bad.

I too thought they had to be better than the alternatives. But alas, their rates jumped significantly, they have been out to the house numerous times for cable outages and pixelation a, replaced the ever box , replaced the hd box, cannot fix the dropped wi-if all the time, slow speeds , and to take the cake, they ported my number to a new address and 5 months later transferred it to someone else WITHOUT my knowledge until I wondered why we were getting no calls. They said the"system" did it because FCC would not allow the to port to that address. On and on ... And.. Their customer service told me I needed a $7 had box for my added Tuva to get digital. When the tech came out, he laughed and told me they tell everyone that when the $2 box gives you HD. THeir custome service is not as great as others think solving problems either. Btw.. Look up bright house office in Wildwood, when you call it it or any local number you are transferred to a national line. They use it for "local" calling they said.
Comcast I have had and Charter. although not the best customer service ,their rates are the same or less with much better service AND features. If service is better, at least you won't need customer service as often! Lol

We've had CenturyLink since the wife moved here 2/1 and we really like it. We had ATT U-verse in KC and hated to find out they weren't here. CenturyLink modeled their Prism system after U-verse so it was a no-brainer to sign with CL.

It's 145+ channels, plus 46 movie channels free for 3 months and a free Genie HD DVR upgrade in up to four rooms. I believe this $19.95 rate is good for the rest of the month but the $150 cash back offer ends in only 5 days..

Yeah right. If they had the best cable service they wouldn't have the worst customer service. People call customer service because they are not happy with what they have, either reliability or billing. You might want to read the threads on here about Comcast then read the National reviews. Yeah, I have Brighthouse, south of 466A, and zero issues unless SECO has an issue.

I do not need to read any threads or national reviews about Comcast. I'm glad your enjoying Brighthouse, but we did not. Even their equipment is sub par in comparison to Comcast, along with pricing and technology.

I have had Comcast since I moved in 9 years ago and I have not had the kind of problems people have complained about here on these pages.
But I read one post after another complaining and switching to another service then boasting that it was better only to cancel and go to another or return to their former. come to think of it the same scenario occurs with restaurants, and contractors

We live south of 466A so when we first moved into our newly built home we were going to use Brighthouse for our provider for internet . A guy came out and said they didn't want to deal with laying new cable lines (no cable lines were laid for Brighthouse when they built the house), scratched there heads and said not possible even though they claim to have service in our subdivision. Called Comcast, it took 3 crews out here with 3 different stories about laying the cable lines, really talked us out of it because they didn't want dig and run the lines up through the attic, each one contradicted each other about what could be done and all the work they would have to do and how our sod would be torn up and it would take weeks to get this completed. Now why would I go with an attitude like that?? So we ended up with Century link for internet and Direct TV for television. Found out through one of these guys at Comcast that when our cable was laid when they built the house it was either cut by the irrigation crew, landscapers, who know's?? Bottom line they walked away from it. Century link is okay for internet, don't like there customer service but it was our only option for internet out here. Direct TV is great, love the programming and customer support.

We love Brighthouse. In fact, that is a major factor in the place we decided to build here in TV. We thought about buying a preowned house and remodeling, but since we can get Brighthouse here south of 466A, we built a new house.
Of course, we lived in Orlando for 13 years before we moved here, so we were spoiled by Brighthouse's good service. And channel 13 news. We like to know what's happening with the weather and the news. Can't get that on any other cable company.

Just so you are aware, brighthouse is being purchased by charter communications and has no plans to keep things "business as usual!" Just google it and you'll find all the info.

Well, since Brighthouse will be changing, here's what's on tap for Comcast: Published today -
Comcast is testing a new television streaming service for $15 a month. Will this lead to more people cutting the cable cord or is it just a sign that cable companies are acknowledging that they need to offer more services to cord-cutters?
On Sunday, Comcast CMCSA, +0.84% announced that the new broadcast television service, Stream, will be available to Xfinity Internet customers in Boston at the end of the summer. The service, which will also have HBO, will then be rolled out in Chicago and Seattle “with plans to make it available everywhere in our footprint by early 2016.” Consumers can sign up online. Critically, people will still need a Comcast Xfinity Internet plan, which starts at around $70 a month for Internet and local television channels (although there are limited-time promotions starting at $45 a month).
Has the TV cable-cutting revolution finally arrived? “No,” says Dan Rayburn, a principal analyst with business consulting firm Frost & Sullivan. “For starters, it’s only going to roll out in beta this summer, in limited locations, with the goal of going live next year. But a lot can happen in that time. Remember how much credit the media gave Intel for their OnCue service which never even launched?” Intel INTC, +1.92% sold that media business to Verizon Communications VZ, +0.43% last year, effectively putting an end to its ambitions to start a cloud-based Internet TV service.
“Until we know what this service looks like, which channels it has, at what quality, supported on what devices and how many streams you can do at once, it’s too early to judge this at all,” Rayburn says. “Plus, this won’t have sports channels, which as we know, is a big driver of cable TV.” (In a statement posted online, Comcast said Stream will include thousands of on-demand movies and shows to watch at home or away, plus a cloud DVR service. “It’s unlike anything we’ve ever offered: no extra device or additional equipment required or even a TV,” it said. It’s an online-only service, but people could also connect their computer to a TV screen.
That said, there are many more ways to stream video content than there were a few years ago. In March, Apple Inc. AAPL, +0.02% cut the price for the Apple TV streaming box to $69 from $99. The most basic Roku device to stream content to your TV costs $50, Google Inc.’s GOOG, +3.10% Chromecast costs $35 and Amazon’s AMZN, +2.72% Fire TV retails at $99 with the slightly more basic Fire TV Stick at $40. Also last March, Sony Corp. SNE, +0.95% rolled out its new Internet TV service, PlayStation Vue, in New York, Philadelphia and Chicago and, as of last month, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The amount of time American households spend watching live television has fallen over the last couple of years. In the last quarter of 2014, adults spent 4 hours, 51 minutes watching live TV, down from 5 hours, 10 minutes two years before, according to a report by market research group Nielsen. Video streaming services, such as Netflix, have overtaken live TV in popularity, according to a report released in April by consulting firm Deloitte. Those latter households use devices to watch TV, “nearly 50 minutes more than a typical household with a TV,” it added.
And yet the cable television industry hasn't lost more than 1% of cable TV subscribers in any one quarter, Rayburn says. Online services, he believes, are a complement rather than disrupter to cable, which may explain why Comcast is now entering the fray. Netflix NFLX, +0.06% has more than 40 million subscribers in the U.S., paying $9 a month, versus HBO’s 30 million-plus customers in the U.S. paying $15 a month. Most Netflix customers want to watch live television and also have cable, Rayburn says. Time Warner Cable TWC, +0.92% has around 11 million video subscribers and Comcast has around 22 million.

I have also read that they are planning on throttling or offering limited bandwidth to internet customers without cable TV similar to what the wireless companies do. They are going to get your money one way or the other.
For instance, a standard video file streamed over Netflix is about 2GB, offering 50 free GB per month with $2 per extra gig or something to that effect would allow them to get the same from an Internet only connection as they can from a TV and Internet one. And the cable companies haven't exactly been quiet about it. Quite a few articles out there on that as well.

Brighthouse is history the sales rep comes on this forum, I tell him about the problems we have, fails to address those issues.
They were charging $65 a month for Internet, if you want to get overcharged they are the folks to use.
Moreover, at that price they only offer half the speed of Comcast for $19 a month.

Yesterday on this thread I had wrote that my Century Link internet and phone has never been out after four years. Here's a slight update, 30 minutes after I wrote that it went out. Two hours ago a Century Link technician just came and fixed the problem. Apparently a couple of days ago lightning struck our telephone line somewhere. Our system has a backup battery in the garage, so in case of a power failure such as during a hurricane, you won't lose your telephone. Unfortunately the lightning fried the battery just enough so that it worked for a couple of days but then gave out. Century Link came the next day and fixed it, no problem.
