Does anyone have experience with Villages Insurance homeowners insurance products or American Strategic Insurance (ASI) products and services?
I’m about to close on a new home in Labelle. USAA has been my long time insurer but Villages Insurance beat the USAA premium and deductibles by a mile for comparable, and in some cases better, coverage.
Villages Insurance homeowners policies are now underwritten by ASI. I looked ASI up on the Better Business Bureau web site and there are nearly 200 complaints. Nearly all say that ASI is great on lowball premiums and deductibles, but terrible on claim service.
Has anyone on TOTV encountered this?

I can tell you that our friend's home was hit by lightening last year with more damage then you can imagine. The Villages Home Insurance was there from the onset and made it very easy for them to recover. I'm pleased that we have the same insurance. It's been reasonable and evidently dependable when needed.

But was ASI the underwriter for Villages Insurance when that policy was opened? The BBB complaints were against ASI, the underwriter, not Villages Insurance. The underwriter makes all the difference and I'm not sure when Villages Insurance started using ASI.

Have used the Villages Insurance for our house for over 5 years. I feel they are very reasonable on price, however I have not had a claim as yet. Our policy is underwritten by American Integrity with both kinds of sink hole coverage. Have used USAA previously up north but dropped them as they got to expensive.

We've had ASI for the 8 years we have been here. Our rates have remained about the same during that time. We have not had a claim so I cannot comment on that. We were able to get sinkhole ins on our original policy and still have it.

In 2011 after reading a few threads about homeowners insurance on TOTV, I made note that I would not go with USAA in Florida but instead buy ASI from Villages Insurance due to the price and feedback from those who responded. We closed July 5, 2011 (4 years ago Sunday) only to find out at that time ASI had suspended writing policies in Florida. Villages Insurance set us up with American Integrity for $505, so we took it. It has increased a slight amount each year, I just paid for this year and it was $695, we have not had any claims, so I can really rate the service. I still have USAA for my car.

We purchased ASI (with sinkhole coverage) from TV insurance just 3 years ago. No price changes so far.

That price seems low. Does it include sinkhole coverage? We have ASI for a $235,000 house and pay $995. That includes sinkhole coverage.

Yes, we have sink hole coverage. Last year coverage was $725, it actually dropped $30 to $695. However, ours is a courtyard villa, not a single house, and our purchase price was only $157,000 for a new masonry home in 2011.

So that is right in line with ours. I am pleased with the rate we have and the fact that we have sinkhole coverage. I wouldn't consider changing companies because it is difficult to get the sinkhole on a used home. I used to do insurance quotes for a large company for the past 3 years and did quite a bit of shopping around to find this coverage. Unless the price goes up drastically we are staying put.
We have had ASI for the past 9 years. We were hit by the tornado in 2007 and had about $100k in damages. ASI could not have been better. They set up a satellite office in Lake Sumter. An appraiser came out the next day after the tornado and did a very honest and true appraisal of the damages. When we went to the office in Lake Sumter, they cut us an $11,000 check immediately so that we could get started. As we found more damage the appraiser returned and agreed with us on all things. Can't say enough good about them. Still have them and have sinkhole insurance.

A couple of years ago we got screwed over big time by Connie what's her name at State Farm doubling the premiums......after almost 60 years with them.
They called me back and said they had no problem continuing to carry my three autos....I cancelled on the spot.
I now go to the lowest bidder!

We just purchased ASI through the Villages insurance. Yes, we have sinkhole coverage on a new Begonia in Lake Deaton. Our annual premium is $790.
