I went to a Villages ACE Hardware store and explained to an employee that I was trying to solve a gate pass problem for a friend with cerebral palsy. Without the use of his left hand, it is very difficult to swipe the card. The employee suggested attaching a washer to the gate pass and then use a magnet. I purchased an inexpensive telescopic magnet online and we have a "gate pass extender". My friend says it works great and he is very happy. For a sale of 18 cents the employee has done a very fine thing.

Nice solution, and thanks for sharing as well as the feedback on ACE hardware. I have always had good experience with these stores.

They got to have the most helpful, friendliest service people. I wish I had my business back I would hire them all!

I go to the ACE Hardware in Wildwood quite often, and they have the friendliest, most helpful staff I have ever encountered at any business.

I agree with the previous posts for the most part however had I listened to an ACE employee concerning a plumbing problem I had I would have been in dire straights. Fortunate for me I hired a plumber. ACE does carry inventory that matches replacement parts for village homes.

In that same vein I also have an affinity for Lowe's but they did fall down when I asked them for a certain moulding that fits around cabinets they simply did not know. what all that amounts to is simply human error is a product we can all create

You might pay a bit more at ACE, but thier customer service is unbeatable! This is usually my first stop.

This is true. Their employees know their stuff and they almost always have everything you look for. I'd rather pay a little more in my neighborhood than have to drive to H. Depot or Lowes where finding a salesperson for info is usually a problem.

And if they don't stock a particular item they will order for you and it arrives at the store in 2-3 days....or you can order the item yourself online and it's delivered to their store for pickup...no delivery or handling charge. Great service, great people!

I have shopped at both Villages locations and the store in Wildwood and have always received excellent service.

I went to Home Depot to buy a Weber Gas Grill I couldn’t get someone to help me I asked a guy in an orange shirt if he could call for assistance in that department. After 15 minuets I walked out. This was the second time I tried to buy a $445 grill from HD and no luck. I stopped at Ace and they had the grill I wanted for the same price and they put it together and delivered it to my home for free. Weber is a fare trade item so it is the same price wherever you go but with Ace you get purchase points on your Ace account and free delivery so that is a better deal then Home Depot. Ace is the place with the helpful hard where man.

I had not heard the term "fair trade" in many years. I knew it meant the price was fixed and not negotiable but I'm not sure it ever was or still is true. Just curious. Any opinions out there?
