Currently North of Boston in Marblehead near Salem Ma.

Supermarket today bought 1 Gal Milk $2.59, White American Cheese $3.59/lb, Virginia Sliced Ham $3.99/lb. Eggs were high @ $2.49/doz large. Anyone in TV getting these prices?

full time and don't care about prices on the North Shore. Where did you play golf today? How much did it cost? Where did you drive your cart for dinner?
How much did it cost? While we're at it.....what is you point?

If you are trying to make up a budget the info might help, but as mentioned in the posts what store are you looking at. You also have to look at coupons, sales and what type of local store you are using. Probably better to look at regional cost of living figures put together by the goverment.

Food prices are definitely going up and up as product shrinks in size I remember yrs ago we always had parties. Now it's so expensive to continue on with the tradition. I never get out of Walmart for under $100 and then I think geez, what did I buy? You have a valid concern with the rising cost of food. Thank goodness we don't have families to feed anymore

But food prices are going up EVERYWHERE. I'm not sure if the OP is just curious, or if the deal breaker in moving to TV full time is the price of milk

I think you can buy groceries reasonably priced in The Villages or just outside. It may not be a one-stop-shop, however. You will have to have a routine. Produce at Farmer's market or at a farm stand, buy-one-get-one at Winn Dixie or Publix, bulk items at Sam's or Walmart, watch the ads for meat when it's on sale. Even Fresh market have some great meat deals certain days of the week. You can also get some great produce at Save-a-lot.

For comparison, just got back from Wegman's in Central NY:

large eggs, $2.89 dozen
gallon milk, $ 3.29/ gal
White cheese, $ 4.89/lb
Sliced ham, $6.99/lb

So it's all relative

I can't say I pay all that much attention to food prices in general, but for sure everything here is much less expensive than Hawaii. I practically needed a Xanax every time I went to Safeway!

You have to also remember that so much corn is now going into ethanol production, combining this with droughts and you have less feed for the beef and other animals we eat.

I think those prices might be found in or around The Villages.
As stated before you will have to shop the weekly ads, hit 5 different stores and a farmers market. An all day affair. Food prices in FL are definitely higher than Texas or even upstate NY. Last week we bought Maine lobsters for $5.99 a pound.

I don't know what I'd do if I still had to feed a family of 4. I"d have to have a second job I think. I never get out of Publix or Walmart for under $100 and usually manage to spend that much at Sam's Club also.

It's all relative and affects people differently. People who have plenty of money and could care less or eat out all the time verses people who live on a much more limited income and cannot eat out all the time=a big difference. I think for some people the grocery store prices are very comparable to where they came from but for others(maybe many others) the prices are much higher and have a larger impact on their lives.

There is definitely some sort of monopolistic pricing going on in Florida. I think if NY had these high prices US Senator Chuck Schumer would have a Sunday Press conference stating he is against high grocery prices.

Marblehead MA is a town north of Boston on the coast. It is mostly a residential town and has a special place in US History. Lived there for 29 years and raised our family there. It unfortunately has winter and we left for The Villages as we retired and have not regretted our move.

We always come back in the summer for a vacation to visit our son and family.

But especially to overdose on the cheap milk we buy at The Market Basket.

As mentioned above, "MARKET BASKET" is the reason his prices are so good. Market Basket has a chain of stores in the North East and their prices are kept well below other food stores in the area. They are privately owned and this is what their owner said recently: “We keep it as simple as possible for people,” he said. “We keep costs low and quality high. We keep the stores clean and offer service with a smile. And if at the end of the day you have some success, then you share that with the associates.”

A good business mantra.

I am also not one to jump from one store to another for a few cents. I know my two basic shopping spots carry what I use regularly and they have prices I am comfortable with. Bogos and other two for ones only work if you normally use it and not just buy it for the sale.
