Somene told me Jo Ann Fabrics is moving in the store that was to be AC Moore on 441. Does any one know what happened?

Have no idea but saw a sign there today saying JoAnn's would be open August 21 and they were now hiring.

Where is that located? My wife will be estatic. We will be back in November and she was hoping that there would be a Jo Ann's by then.

In the strip mall across from the Home Depot where Bed, Bath & Beyond is. Next to PetSmart if I remember correctly.

YEAH! I love Jo Ann's too! I've never heard of A.C. Moore. Just glad there's a Jo Ann's moving in!

A.C Moore is a terrific craft store, largest I've seen. We had them in CT and Mass - I was so excited we were going to get one here. I don't know what cut, if any, The Villages gets from businesses to be here but I heard they get a cut and it is very high and that's why some businesses won't come here. Don't know if it is true or not. I'm just disappointed about A. C. Moore not coming.

MFP.... I don't know about the TV developers getting any 'cut' for new stores, but, this particular shopping center is being developed by an outfit totally separate and apart from TV and its developer. It is not located on or adjacent to the boundaries of TV and will not be golf cart accessible.

My wife asks: A super store or a smaller one?

Did the Jo Ann store open this weekend as planned? Is it one of the big stores or small ones? Thanks.

The store is open. I'm not familiar enough with JoAnn stores to know if this is a big or small store. All I know is I was disappointed with what I saw. I was hoping for something like Michaels or Hobby Lobby and my take on this store is it's a fabric/notions store with a few craft/floral items. I asked an employee if that was all they had for silk floral selection, and she said yes and that she thought it was a meager selection as well. Maybe that's the way their stores are, but I was hoping for more.

Oh that's a shame. I was hoping it was one of Jo Ann's Creative Superstores. The one in Illinois eclipsed Michael's or any other craft store. It was huge. I loved going there. This one seems like the type of store Jo Ann's started with. Does anyone know if the one in Ocala is a superstore? That's the two things I'm missing here. Jo Ann's Creative Superstore and Target Superstore. Wish they would make this Target a superstore also. :(

Our Joanne fabrics in Upstate N.Y. has an enormous selection of artificial florals, covers half the store. The prices on them are very low compared to Porters. I am disappointed to hear that they have a small selection. Guess I will have to buy them here and haul them down. Hopefully in time they will expand.

I had looked this up on the JoAnn's website a while ago. The store in Ocala is not a superstore. The closest JoAnn's superstore is in Orlando. I'm glad that we will at least have the fabrics close by, but will have to travel further out to get my craft supplies. They probably put in a smaller store just to test the water, and will hopefully expand if the business exceeds their expectations. We can certainly pester them with e-mails asking for an expanded store also.

Was there Sunday and they had huge tarps holding out the rain from where the ceiling was leaking. Not a good start for that strip center.

I heard Jo Anne's bought out all the A.C. Moore stores south of NC. It is okay but I wish it was a Hobby Lobby.

Sad to hear. My wife was hoping for crafts, etc. And I was hoping it was a place to buy Christmas presents (in the form of crafts for my wife).
