We are interested in getting bids for the design and construction of a pool access full bathroom, summer kitchen and small exercise room. Our lot is suitable for construction on both sides and the rear. We currently have an extended lanai with an in-ground swim spa and bird cage in the back. We also have a large underground propane tank. We will likely do the rear landscape in conjunction with this project.
Have you done any of these additions or anything similar at your home? We are looking for ideas, photos, comments, suggestions, and things to consider. Also recommendations for contractors.
Thanks in advance fellow TOTVers. We look forward to your input!

Just make sure before you spend any money, review your deed restrictions, Deed compliance can help

Sell the old house & buy a newer one with what you want-less aggravation & you'll know what you're getting--customizing a house for an individual needs --usually kills resale

If you are in Sumter county, make sure you check the NEW building codes. We just got caught in this mess, the code change took effect June 30th, our plans went in July 1-2, and were rejected! Caused a 2 week or so delay. My experience so far is go to ARC and talk to them, or have them review a sketch to at least see if there are major problems. For example, our house has a road to the back with a large backyard THAT WE CANNOT BUILD ANYTHING ON A LARGE PORTION OF IT. Also, the building department has been very helpful in answering questions before we approached any builders.
Hope this helps, and good luck with your project.
