Health Aid - I've not tried this, use at your own risk.
from Jmax NONCOMPUTER SUPPLEMENT (Member of TV Computer Club)

Treatment:

To stop night time coughing in a child (or an adult, as we found out personally), put Vicks Vapor Rub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime and then cover with socks.

That's undetermined on Snopes.com. http://www.snopes.com/medical/homecure/vaporub.asp

That probably works better for someone 4' 11" than someone 6' 5". :joke:

Good old fashioned codeine works great (i.e., Tusionex & other liquid elixirs-prescription). But I only recommend these if you cough constantly and deeply.

I'd pass on the drugs and go for the Vick's on the soles of the feet. Sounds worth a try to me.

I was experiencing a recurrent dry cough similar to sinus dripping and tickling the throat. My head was also stuffed up with a water-like substance. It would clear during daytime; just occurred while laying in bed. It finally dawned on me that I had experienced this same situation about a year ago and recently recalled that I deduced it was a specific med that was prescribed for my GERD, namely, the generic for Procrit. I stopped taking the med and sure enough, my sinus cleared and had no more coughing at night. Now the gp has recommended another drug for GERD and I'm told that this script has different ingredients. Well.....ok. Will give it a try AFTER I've processed the Vick's shtick.

I repeat.....We must be our own advocate when it comes to medical mumbo jumbo.

I asked my doctor about that as I had similar symptoms. He said it sounded like it could be acid reflux. Try Prilsec OTC.

Most cases of nightime coughing are due to acid reflux in my very humble non professional opinion.
