Great job by those involved in capture. Boo to Village residents who leave key's in cars, guns in cars, drugs in cars, unlocked cars, etc.

A big thanks to the newspaper courier who first noticed this activity & reported it to Communty Watch.

The on-line paper did not say anything about garages being broken into so can we assume these were taken from cars and carts in driveways?
What the heck is a Villager doing with a bottle of hydrocodone in his golf cart - parked outside at 2 am? Handguns in unlocked cars in the driveway? A car unlocked with a key in it in the driveway? All totally foolish.
Hydrocodone is a very powerful narcotic medicine. It is not something you carry in a golf cart for a headache like Advil. In fact, you are not supposed to drive after using it.
Handguns in unlocked cars? Ridiculous!
Yes, the burglars should definitely go to prison.

I am still trying to figure WHY someone had a bottle of hydrocodone in their golf cart in their driveway at 2 am (or anytime) - and how the burglar KNEW it was there. Why go to that particular cart? Who leaves a controlled substance in their golf cart outside overnight?
To me - lots of unanswered questions the police should be asking.

Any golf cart outside in the middle of the night would be an easy target. Thieves will go through the compartments looking for cash, gps, cell phone, etc. Hydrocodone would be a surprise find.

What gun law would apply to that?

Golf carts are too easy to steal. I never leave ours out overnight for that reason.

What is the crime? Stupidity? As far as I know, that is not a crime - not yet anyhow.

Lots of seniors here forgetful seniors sometimes passengers in other's carts. We need to watch out and be helpful to our neighbors that may have more difficulties than us. Predators see them as easy pickings but with everyone on guard for his neighbors, they will find The Villages not a good place to be.

Maybe before relocating to TV some folks lived where they did not have to maintain a high level of awareness to protect themselves from scumbags.

I probably misread the article but did it say the drugs belonged to a victim? Could they not have been the perps?

No, it stated the hydrocodone was stolen from a golf cart. The golf cart was in the driveway at 2 am. Why have hydrocodone ( a controlled narcotic) in your golf cart?
How did a thief know which cart to burgle?

He probably burgled a bunch of carts until he struck gold.
Why was it there? Probably just a oversight.
I think it would be harder to forget a handgun in an unlocked car! :ohdear:
Maybe not, I don't own a gun. Perhaps people that own guns tend to get careless with them?

I was curious about this charge: "Armed burglary to a conveyance."
"If you are accused of entering the conveyance while armed with a dangerous weapon, or take possession of a weapon you find inside the car or boat: this offense becomes “Armed Burglary,” a felony of the first degree and punishable by up to life in prison."

Or release on bond and more crime so he can "earn" the bond money back - and then skip out on the bond.
Dang, I am cynical before my second cup of coffee.

Re: "people who own guns" Handgun safety training is requisite before a permit to carry is issued. No licensed gun owner I know would risk losing that right to carelessness.
It's possible the guns were not stolen from the vehicles, but from somewhere else, then found in the perps' car along with the stolen drugs.
