I wonder what the windspeed would have to be to make screen perform as a solid substance? Is it 35 MPH? I have heard that some people cut their screens before a big blow. That seems crazy to me. What if it doesn't blow that hard?? Engineers, we need your input.

Smalldog Sez not sure about lanias but before coming to TV had a bird cage over our pool in Sebastian ???............ it made through Francis and Jean, no problems except a few cuts where shingles visited on their way by and Jean tore a plastic latch off one of the doors on that scarey nite ............ :o

We've been talking to T&D concrete about putting a birdcage extension on our lanai...they say their construction is rated to withstand Category 3 hurricane...not sure if that is just the structure or also the screen (unless those flying shingles come ripping by).

07, I think they are referring to the structure only. I would be surprised if the screen could stand up to that force and remain intact.
