Handi, thanks for starting the thread and the updates. We are in New Jersey and the Florida storm coverage is quite extensive but not central Florida specific. We appreciate your thoughtfulness in updating in live time. Our thoughts are with our friends and neighbors in The Villages. Be safe....God bless.

It's 9:47 and all is dry. Golfers have been on Palmer. Dark clouds are starting to show up in the Eastern sky.

I called my buddy JoJo and she said that the eye was predicted to pass close to LadyLake. Not good news. I wish, I wish, you all had basements. Wish there was a way TV could build some fortified places and take it out of our amenities. I sure would like THAT. They could even do it without asking me..........

It's 10:08 and the skies have opened up. Rain is coming in sideways across Lake Sumter.
Several golf carts just went flying by.. heading up to and passing the 7th hole of Riley.

Just lost my Dish Network Satellite Signal. Really dark out over here in Polo Ridge.
Had to dash from my first pickleball beginners organized play at Coconut Cove at 10 a.m. Started with some sun at 9 a.m. Tropical storms come in bands and that's what's happening. Right now it's just drizzling.

Seems we have just experienced a short (duration) bit of rain and wind. Looking at the animated weather map it is one of the Northernmost outer bands. The all day stuff is soon to arrive.
I would also like to share my interpretation of the latest set of computer models this morning:

Let me rephrase my statement. " Several golf carts just went by at high speed. All four wheels appeared to be on the ground but my eyes aren't what they used to be!! ;)

About the man thrown across the highway by strong winds -
I emailed the TV station. Their reply at this point is that he is in the hospital in critical condition.
What a sad bizarre occurrence.

Sam is taking a leisurely walk and a gust of wind blows up - what does she see?
She can not believe her eyes, :yikes: :yikes:, blowing in the wind are inflatable ladies in the nude and sheep. She rubs her eyes to make sure she is not dreaming.
This time when she opens her eyes she sees Handie running crap crap crap crap after all of the inflatables and yelling to Sam to help him.

HE WAS WIND SURFING! Brilliant eh? He was picked up off the surf, bounced once on the beach then picked up again, sailed across the highway and slammed into the building by the storm. Ah to be in my twenties again young and stupid, nevermind. I'd rather be "mature" and stupid.

Weather update -- Village of Santo Domingo: Soft, steady rain. Light wind (less than 5 mph). Only problem is the rain is coming from the "wrong" direction -- it usually comes from the southeast, this is from the west.

It's raining and visibility across Lake Sumter is limited. The winds are fairly light at present
but still strong enough to make that whistling sound as it passes through the screens of the lanai. If you live here, you know this sound.

OK, I'm calming down, but probably at the wrong time. I've always been bass-ackward!
It's really calm and not cows are flying through my lanai yet. YES COWS! We have cows across 466A. Don't they have little cow houses to protect these sweet animals? :dontknow:
I keep picturing the scene from 'Twister' when a cow comes flying towards the car. :yikes:
Yes, that's right I'm losing it. I'm not one to stay doing nuttin' in the house all day. Finished my office work way too quickly. Hope there's some "all clear" tomorrow!

Cows do fly. I know it for a fact.
We were camping and strong gusts of winds came out of nowhere. Some cows went a flying and landed safely as well as roofs off buildings and many other things.
Since they survived and were not harmed there were no bar be cues that night.
I must admit I have never seen a cow jump over the moon.

Well it appears Fay (remnants thereof) has finally arrived. It now looks very tropical rain storm-ish. Given the roration of the storm and it's location just East of us and then North of us, it will stay like this until it heads on out of the state. No complaints....I only sympathize with all the folks in the Melbourne and proximate areas that have to deal with water in their homes. I was thinking this afternoon, how much rain would it take to fill Lake Miona until it reaches my front door......A LOT (and more than we might get)....I hope and pray.
The forecast is for us to get 6-8 inches of rain.....and we just might get it.
I am glad I have cable and not a satellite right now. Those with satellites....have you lost your signal during the current condition???

I just came in from an afternoon of mahjong. Buena Vista has a lot of water on it but there is no problem driving on it. Lots of moss is laying on the roads and the wind is blowing fairly hard. I think the pool has about 3" more water in it than it had when I left at 12:15. I think the grass is happy. OOOoo a nice branch just hit my roof.
Since this is my first tropical storm and we live on one of the golf course ponds I was getting pretty nervous. I called the TV administration and was told that I might see the irrigation sprinklers go on the golf course. Meanwhile I am still a tad nervous as the water is creeping up in my back yard. And supposedly the rains will continue all night.

I had heard that the storm was coming back around for the third time! The word from Miami is that it is clear and sunny today after three days of heavy rain. No one I know there has sustained much damage except some slight foliage loss.
BTW I too e mailed the TV station which posted the unfortunate flight of that Kite Boarder on their web site. It seems it happened in Ft. Lauderdale and that he is now in stable condition. Lucky man!!! I hope he'll never make a reckless decision like that again but then I have to consider whether I might have exercised any judgment at all given the same circumstances and youth. Probably not lol. I would have said, "Wow, what a rush!!!!"

As of 5 PM after a drive around Amelia East, there were two (Queen Palm) trees completely down, and several others trees with a minor to moderate tilt.
Note:* Virtually all landscaping in this Village is less than six months old.* All Palms were planted within the last three months.* The great majority of recently planted Palms that remain upright were staked on three sides.

Today is definitely the worst of the last three days in TV. There has been a steady, if misty, rain, wind, and rain gusts most of the day. It seems worse as the day goes on. There are palm fronds down all over the roads in then older sections. It's very blustery and one can hear "things" knocking against the house ( a good night for ghost stories - where is Julia?)
Supposedly it will let up Friday afternoon and return to more normal conditions. It is wonderful to see the lakes full but our neighbors on the east coast are having a rough time. Then north Florida will have a turn.
Chels, where is that Fay Away spray???
