Should TOTV decide to make posting a picture of the item for sale a new rule/regulation - what assistance does TOTV intend to offer those who do not have what is necessary to post a picture?

While I agree that a picture makes it easier for a prospective purchaser, it appears that despite the video tutorial, there are some who still can't upload a picture. Besides, anyone posting without a pic is just diminishing their prospects of a sale. What I feel SHOULD be mandatory is the price!

I am not sure every item for sale needs a picture. What about tickets to a show or a trip or things like that? Making a picture mandatory for some things will bring up some weird results.

Alot of older people have trouble with the upload technology.

I think it is almost silly to NOT post a picture. The odds of selling something to someone that they cannot see online first is very low.

Actually I think you should also have a vote on people HAVING to put a price and a contact with each listing. (they do not respond to that 'send the seller a message' thing). Twice this week I have responding to people asking them to contact me and I listed my phone and email (they had no phone or email listed with their posting) as I was interested in their items..........and neither one bothered to contact me. They are trying to sell something, for gosh sakes...........why are they SO afraid to list a phone or email. The least they can do is respond and let you know if the item has sold.

Itreally depends on what is being sold. It should be obvious which items require apicture and which don't.

I think adding a picture of the item is very helpful but is not necessary on some items.

Someone mentioned that the item should always have a price listed. If you click on the link below the ad, you will see the price.

I also can see why some don't want to give out their phone number or email address. You can always send the seller a private message.

I say no, some have problems posting pictures and I find my best buys are out there even after it is posted with no picture... why are the items still out there... because few people will look at it... so it is a double edged sword...

Why dictate things unnecessarily? If someone posts an ad without a photo, ignore it if you want. If most do, then I suspect you will see fewer ads without a picture. But I don't believe it necessary to restrict peoples freedoms when there is no harm to anyone.

If you have anything in the price area besides a 2 or 3 number price, it won't downlaod. In very small letters it will say, "You must enter a valid price".

Positootly! Picture up front please.
Having to flip around HOPING to see a shot of the item.... then get back to the site is a royal P.I.T.A.
When an item is sold, it should also be stated or REMOVE THE ADVERT. It is simple etiquette and, like making a bed when you are a guest in someone's home, be CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS and clean up after your good fortune. I know that most of us would blast our kids for not doing the right thing.
Some of us need to be reminded and/or admonished at times, I suppose.

In all fairness, I agree that everyone does not have the capability to post a photo because of lack of a camera or computer. However, a price should be mandatory, even if they offer OBO (or best offer) or a price negotiable type of wording.

LitespeedRider

I would also vote no - as has been said, sometimes pictures are not that easy for some...and often there is an ad and the images follow. If pictures are made as mandatory - people will just post stock pictures or pictures of what ever other odd thing. Seems someone is trying to solve the problem no one has. If you dont see a pic - skip the ad if you so desire. (a good example would be things such as tickets to the theme parks and what not).

Why am I having such a hard time finding instructions on TOTV on how to do this? They should make it easy to find answer. ToTV, There have been enough problems with pictures, that this should NOT be a requirement. I personally had several problems adding pictures, until I realized they were too big, and this site did not provide a suitable error message. I agree with most of the most of the comments, in that pictures tend to be very helpful, but I do not see that they should be a absolute requirement.

Most either never look at their PM's or never respond for whatever reason. Even if the item has already been sold, it is common courtesy to respond to the inquiry. C'mon folks, be nice and reply.

While I believe a photo should be included with a listing, there are a number of reasons why someone does not or cannot post one.
Many reasons have already be mentioned and I don't think it should be mandatory.

I, too, am of the opinion that the seller's phone number be included and be mandatory.
Too much time is wasted and lost waiting for a seller to respond, if in fact, they respond at all.

What browser and email do you use? I use Windows, Firefox and Gmail. So what I do is save the picture to my desktop. Then I right-click it and go down to "Send to" on the pull down menu that appears. In the menu that appears next, click on Mail Recipient. A window will appear asking you what size you want the picture to be. Click on the smallest size. I think it's 640 x 480 pixels. Email that to yourself. When you get he email, save the picture to your desktop (naming it something other than the original or else deleting the original, larger sized one from the desktop).

That picture will then be the correct smaller size. When making the classified, choose this picture (browse>desktop>picture) to be added to your ad.

Someone else may have an easier or quicker fix to making an image smaller, but this is how it has always worked for me. I hope I haven't been too confusing, Dale.

Are you taking the picture with an Android phone? That's likely what many (if not most) people are taking pictures with to upload. If so, try this app from the Google Play Store. Free and quite effective. Can upload directly into the classifieds from your phone.

" Photo & Picture Resizer "

Hint: Don't make the pics too small. Try the first size smaller when using that app. (like 75%)

Please let others here know if it works well for you. Good luck.
