Just went by Sumter Grand with police cars with lights on, parked before and after the complex and 3 or 4 more in the lower parking area also with lights on.
Are they having a parade in wheel chairs??

I went by around 2:30 PM. I counted 7 sheriff cars and 2 Wildwood police cruisers. None were in the parking lot at Sumter Grand at that time, but they were spread from Canal St to Buena Vista and all had their lights on although parked. It appeared to me that they were either trying to slow traffic down or were running speed traps. Maybe that is why they were in the parking lots - after pulling over violators - with their lights on.

??? What-you've never seen a speed trap in TV.

There were two deputies shooting radar at southbound Buena Vista around 5pm. They were in the circle of the roundabout at St Charles. I thought that to be strange with the manhunt in progress. Maybe he was captured...

Bagboy - well at least I wasn't dreaming. Thanks.

7 cruisers stretched out from Canal to Buena Vista with their lights flashing would be an incredibly strange and ineffective way to stage a "speed trap"

From Online News;

A manhunt is under way in The Villages along County Road 466A.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who fled after a traffic stop at about 1 p.m. today.

A helicopter and K-9 units were brought in as part of the search.

A vehicle was pulled over and the driver, said to be 51-year-old Ronald Dale Fleck, fled on foot. A woman who was in the car with him did not flee, according to a spokesman with the sheriff’s office.

Fleck, who has previously listed addresses in Lady Lake and Wildwood, is being sought on an out-of-county warrant.

He has previously been arrested in Lake County on charges of felony domestic battery, cocaine possession and driving while license suspended.

I passed through the intersection of 466A and Buena Vista about 11:30 and two police cars were parked there, one in the grass and one in the intersection. That would mean this happened earlier than the 1:00pm reported by the newspaper.

I left home to play golf at Havana and went east on O'Dell at 12:15 and three police cars were parked on O'Dell around the Canal area and one helicopter overhead. When I returned at 4:15 the three police cars were still on O'Dell, so they aren't giving up easily.

We would probably be shocked at who and what passes through our paradise. It does appear that they were passing through. But, it wouldn't surprise me if he and his wife lived with a parent in The Villages. Sooner or later he will be caught.
