I have seen some people who use sand in their landscape design. Looks like beach sand. Has anyone ever done this? Just wondering the pros and cons of it. Thanks.

We don't have sand at our Village home but Mom and I used to own a condo on the beach. It probably would depend on how much sand you had. But, at the beach, the sand got in everything! You would track it into the house and it also blowed into the windows and doors.

One of our neighbors made a sand beach in the backyard. When the wind blows, the sand blows. When it rains, it is messy. The house sold and the first thing the new owners did was get rid of the sand. And there was a ton of it.

Great big litter boxes to me!

JMO but I think it looks tacky. I'm surprised it passes the community standards.

The ARC has no say-so about artistic content.

I like the little beach scene islands. Weeds can barely grow in the beach sand. Gets a little boring looking at the same 3 colors of stack wall, same 4 colors of stone at every house in TV
Yes, the sand tracks in, if your landscape designer was a dope and the sand is used where you walk a lot.

We have a putting green and put a small "sand trap" in with beach sand. It looks nice when it is first put there but then when it rains the sand seems to harden, much like the sand traps on the golf courses, and it doesn't look fluffy any longer. You need to add sand often if you want it to look fluffy. I like the effect for our putting green but to add sand in general landscaping I would stay away from that.

Who'll be the first to place a tee box on their front lawn? FORE.

I was there when the owner was using wheelbarrow to take the sand to the back yard. There was a huge truck full. I always thought about the neighbors and the mess it must have created for them. It was cute for a party....but after that .....not so cute. He had tiki bar, lifeguard stand, tiki lights... The whole beach scene.
