Why isn't the WGC-Bridgestone Champion Shane Lowry in the Fed Ex Cup? With the 550 points he earned at Bridgestone he would have 772 points and be near the middle of the top 125 Fed Ex points needed.

I am not sure about how that really works. I looked at his ratings for the tournaments he played. Only made 8 cuts but did win one. Three of his cuts were low in the standings. Maybe there is something I am missng.

I just cheked the fedex points list and through august 23 he is ranked tied for 175th. How many make the first leg of the cup?

The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational was completed on 8/9/15. Bubba Watson finished 2nd and was awarded 315 Fed Ex Points. Shane Lowry finished 1st and should have received 550 points. Added to the points he had prior to the Bridgestone he would have a total of 777 points. For some reason he received prior Fed Ex points but not the 550 which would have put him near the middle of the required 125 points to play in the season end Fed Ex Tournaments.

Looking at his results on the PGA Tour this year, tournament by tournament, it appears he got no points for finishes early in the year and partial points on his win and his next tournament. I suspect he is not a full PGA Tour member, or joined late in the year, so he got no points early and partial points later.

I don't think he is a US PGA tour player but is a European PGA tour player.

When he won the WGC-Bridgestone he was awarded three years exemption - on the US PGA Tour.

When Jordan Spieth won the 2013 John Deere Tournament he immediately became a full tour member and was awarded all the previous 2013 Fed Ex points he had earned but were not awarded due to his prior non tour member status and he played in the 2013 Fed Ex Cup.

I don't understand why in 2015 Shane Lowry case is different than Jordan Spieth in 2013.
