I'm sitting here watching the hula hoop dancing and wondering why this is considered a sport, but they cancelled softball?
Maybe one of the great minds at this forum can explain it to me. I sure don't get it. :dontknow:

They were supposed to do the hula hoop dancing on the HIGH WIRE but decided to wait four years and try again..as there was no wire to be found in china and its to dangerous to try it on ROMEX as they had planed...

always helpful fumar

Thank you, Fumar! No wire. That explains it! 1rnfl
Do you think that if the softball teams wore beach volleyball outfits -- or outfits with spandex and sparkles -- they would bring it back?
Just wondering. :dontknow:

As an old Soft Ball pitcher myself I would like it to come back...Its a great game and sure beats Hula Hoops..........
Next I fear will be the return of Aurther Murry Dancing.......I shudder at the thought of Kathern Murry in sneakers...

Ya know, I like the extreme sports but those over baseball and softball? No comment about hula hoop dancing. My guess is baseball and softball take too long and the network loses viewers during these games. I hate when the almighty dollar takes over and good things are lost. I think this is another case of the dollar winning. sigh

Fumar, yes, it sure DOES beat hula hoops!

I pitched and played short stop. My JCette team won the good sportsmanship award. This means we were pretty lousy, but we sure had fun! I also hula hooped.
It seems to me that any "sport" that's on Letterman with the grinder girl probably isn't a real sport? lol
And Katheryn Murray in sneakers.... shudder! :yikes:

Redwitch, it seems to be more about the show and the ratings than about the athletes, doesn't it? When we had the Olympics here I was surprised at how much control NBC had over our towns. If an event was happening on Main Street in Park City (trampolining, for example) we weren't allowed to photograph it. NBC "owned" the venue, even though it was happening on a public street. :(

I don't believe the time line had anything to do with it as they showed both marathon's in there entirety (couldn't believe it) It felt like four days and as I'm not a big believer on marathons anyway I couldn't suffer all of it...

You know , They could bring back Tiddlywinks..
I don't like to brag but in High School I was the conference champion tiddlywinks player until my senior year when I sprained my thumb and broke my tiddly and was benched for the rest of the season........
