View Full Version : Looking for opinions on most desired locations in TV
We are wanna Be's and will move to TV when we can sell our condo on Marco Island. I read this forum to gain as much knowledge of TV as I can before we take the lunge. What are the opinions of current owners as to their villages location as being the best location to live in TV.
We currently have two friends and one relative that own in TV and get differing opinions on where they think the best Village is.

Down by Lopez and Mulberry is pretty area but out of the way for using the golf cart The new area is also really nice but you will have to wait for a town square to be built near by. Decide what is important to you and find a place near what you like best.

The reason you are getting different opinions is because we all have different ideas regarding where to live. You should size it up yourself, (renting first is a great idea), and choose whatever makes you happy. After all, we all live in the "best" neighborhood. As earlier recommended, check railways, sewage stations, high traffic areas and so on.

When I came to TV on a tour we stayed at Sumter but I played golf up at the Lopez. We really thought we would buy near Sumter..not the new area. But in the end we liked all the trees up north and living there makes getting to Orlando easier. ( I still have to work)
We looked at 9 properties on the day we made an offer all over The Villages but the best thing is wherever you buy your neighbors will be great.

That question is like asking what the best kind of cookie is. We all have different preferences. To some it's chocolate chip, to others oreo or oatmeal. For me, I like a central location so something around 466 suits me. For others, walking to a town square is a priority. Just about everyone I've met in TV thinks their particular village is the best.

My wife and I live in Duval and are happy in our Camellia.... but, I'm looking for a 3 BR stucco villa on a golf course. Here's my answer to your question... We played golf today with 2 guys in their mid 50's who live in Silver Lake(2 different locations) and their families are soooo happy here. My point... to each his own. It depends on who you ask... BUT, it depends MORE on you. My answer to your question would be...." THE VILLAGES".

I'm sure you have been tracking TV's website, but, this 3BR CBS villa with Havana Golf View in Bonita just popped up in the last couple of days. It is the smaller (1400 sq ft) model.

And, to stay on topic, there are no bad areas. Come look around and see what feels right to you.

We wanted to be south of CR-466 and close to the library and the Lifetime Learning College. For us it was not a priority to be walking distance to a town square. We were absolutely sure also that we wanted a resale. We looked in the five-village area of Belvedere, Tall Trees, Lynnhaven, Ashland, and Bonnybrook, and though we looked for a Patio Villa, since we're snowbirds, we ended up with a small Designer home in a very convenient location in Belvedere--convenient in terms of what WE wanted. Everyone has different goals and desires; you have to determine what's most important to you and go from there. Good luck!

We really like our Hemingway location for many reasons, just off Canal St. and south of Lake Sumter Landing, north of 466A, but all areas are great

We went with our realtor through the new 3 br villa in kenya villas, on the 9th hole of kenya, on the corner facing Morse blvd. It's fantastic. We'd probably take the plunge EXCEPT... it's fully furnished. The realtor said once the furniture's in, it stays. Thanks for the tip.

If you would be more specific as to your interests, planned activities, hobbies, sports interests, budget, residential/transportation needs etc. you should get more helpful responses.

Anywhere in TV's. The people are super regardless of your choice of location. As for as being close to something, you're close to everything.

It is a very personal choice. There is no BEST Village to live in. They all have great people and that is the key. so I think it depends on your lifestyle and what you would like to be near. If you want a "city" feel, get on top of Spanish Springs in Delmar or the Historis side for example or get close in to Sumter in virginia Trace or Caroline. Or if you like the "burbs" feeling you have a large array of choices down south.
It really is a lifestyle choice I believe.
Best of luck!

Carlant,
I beg to differ with you on one point.
I live on the historic side and to me, it is definitely not a big city feeling. I would call it more of a small lake town feeling, which I absolutely love!and if you want bigger town feel, just ride over the golf cart bridge to Spanish Springs, just a few minutes away. IMHO

Getting everywhere easily in the golf cart is important to us so we picked a location in Hemingway. We can get on the Morse recreation trail before we even leave the village, and we can go to both LSL and the future Brownwood without having to get off the rec trail. It is also close to the 466A shopping center, and my beloved Walgreens.

As presdent of the Gnu Protection Society ( GPS ) I must protest! Bigotry and hatred of Gnus is rampant in Haley! We will picket and protest. How DARE you boycott Gnus. Gnus are very sensitive. We demand equal access for Gnus in Hadley immediately. >:( >:( >:(

You are correct. What I should have said is that the Historic side is close in to Spanish Springs Town Square, thus giving you that city feel if you cross over the bridge.

carizona5,
we're in hemingway too (mariel villas) and love it. Plus you can get to LSL without going through a centrum using Canal - nice, quiet, through street

A little downside note is many to the restaurants hire GNU'S for serving staff and ...
how much do you TIP A GNU..
and that goes for tyler too...
We have lived in two villages (Calumet Grove and Chatham) and have Loved them both. However I should note that I was asked to move from one as they didn't want any good GOLFERS living there....(something about their handicap)......They are located on the north side of the villages near an ICE CREAM store..........
You will love it anywhere in THE VILLAGES.....
PS.. We also have the baddest executive course in the villages and the only one with a PAR FIVE hole (I personally have to use a three iron) Try it , You'll like it ...
Boom Boom Fumar
Thank YOU LIVSEA2 for defending GNU'S. When I visit the Villages this November I'm going to picket Jeff363's home, if I can find it! NIE HUH!
