Is this peculiar to The Villages, or Florida, or what? I never got this many in Upstate New York. We have gotten at least 15 calls from one candidate, Will Pruitt. Does he think this is doing him any good? Maybe it is.

Is it just me? Is there anything we can do in the future to stop them? Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive. I am the first one to defend the right of candidates to promote themselves, but this has gone over the edge, in my opinion.

At this point I consider the calls to be harassment. Can we press charges? I am on the do not call list.

Don't be confused about what the "do not call" list does. It is suppose to block only those companies/people who are selling something. It does not cover political, charitable or those from whom you have made past purchases. It also does not cover a message that invites you to call back to get details about a sale.

Do you recall Will Pruitt wanted to go door to door? He did make it into our homes. We probably received 12 calls yesterday. I certainly consider it harrassment.

Rats.
It should cover politicians. And he is definitely selling "something".
How about the harassment part???
I think this man is scary. He doesn't appear to give a ratsbutt that he is annoying us. I hang up immediately but the lesson is there..."I will reach you anytime I desire..regardless of whether or you wish it or not. How arrogant.

Yes, you can complain to the State Attorney General about it.

Thanks, Skip. Think about the AG's office being swamped by thousands of calls or emails from TV. It sounds like a plan. I'm going to do it now. Here are some numbers and email address.

One way you can combat this is to get caller ID... then just don't pick it up. Another was is to register for the stop political calls list. Candidates are not bound by law yet to abide by it but some are pledging to follow it. You can register for this here...

Is anyone else on TOTV receiving and being annoyed by these calls?

I have caller ID and my phone announces the caller as well. It cames in under private caller or unavailable. I don't have to answer, but what if it is a call I need to take?

I keep thinking about getting an air horn and just giving a blast when I get these annoying calls. But then I think about the "Don't shot the messenger " speech I once got. And then again these callers signed on for this abuse.

I am off to buy the air horn.

For the small extra charge on my monthly bill, I LOVE my unlisted phone number. ;)

I don't wish to be unlisted as I like for friends, new friends and possible friends to be able to reach me when they don't have my number. We all pay for our phone service. Why should pols be able to abuse it? If the calls continue, I may opt for an unlisted number. Maybe I can send the bill to Will Pruitt. Maybe we'll get lucky and today will end this campaign for him.

Are these calls coming to your CELL phones?

I would be peeved if they were.

They must be getting your phone # from a Republican list somewhere, as I have not gotten any from him.

If it is a recorded msg., try hitting the # key over and over then hang up.

Good luck ;D

Must be FLA based. I have not received one call for Federal, state or local elections here in MA. Just lucky maybe.

LOL You get none in
MA and all the Florida Political calls I get are coming from MA. That is what shows on my caller ID.. I pick up my phone and immediately hang it up.

We haven't gotten the first one. When we registered to vote, we did so as an independent and, therefore, are not affiliated with either party.

Maybe sandybill2's tactic is why I haven't had any political calls either. This morning's Daily Sun had a number of letters complaining about these calls; I made an assumption (don't really know why) that they were from W.P. He's the guy who was going to go door-to-door despite TV's prohibition of such activity.

Won't you all be glad when November 5 dawns?

I'm so happy that I am a registered Republican. I got to vote for Marlene O'toole today.
It was with great pleasure that I blackened the oval by her name. You Pruitt devotees need to listen up..that barrage of phone calls hurt your man big time. He may still win, but I'll bet it won't be with the margins he would have preferred.
