June 3, 2015 I started using Service Smart Lawn Care. I had to sign on (and pay upfront) for one year. They first cut my lawn 6/8. They cut every other week. Its now raining daily and the grass is high. When they cut it they leave large spots of cut grass throughout the lawn and I had to cut to ask about trim as it wasn't done. One week they cut the front and didn't even do the back (I was out of town my neighbor informed me of this). In three months of being under contract I called three separate times. Now I am told my sprinklers are in jeopardy due to the high thick grass. When I called and wanted to speak directly with the Customer Service Manager who I set up the account with ... I get no return call from him but I did get a very nice Supervisor come to my home and assure me changes would be made regarding my service. Anyone have any experiences?

It really surprised me that with all of the negative postings on here about Service Smart that anyone would hire them? Don't the posts give anyone a clue as to their work performance or lack thereof in this case? I don't get it.

I wouldn't sweat it. There is certainly nothing wrong in asking a question.

I do my own lawn service and have to say I'm pretty proud of it; nothing to complain about. That's the one thing, in my short time I've been here, that amazes me - very few people do their own yard work. The lawns of the people I know that do their own work look considerably better than the ones that are commercial cut.

Had them for one year and my lawn looked worse.
Do a search as advised and you will see.

Never, EVER, pay for anything a year in advance. Service Smart has a very poor reputation. I don't know if Seniors against Crime should be notified, but it appears that you've been swindled.

I had Steller ( now called Service Smart) for a year and they did an "adequate" job. We sold and bought another home and went with a different lawn company.

Perhaps our expectations are too high for the amount of money paid for lawn mowing. Currently I pay $45.00 a month and I paid $45.00 per CUT before I retired and moved to Florida. Do the math. Just a thought......

We have started doing our own fertilzer and pest care as well as our own mowing recently. It is amazing the amount of money we were spending on those. Our lawn looks great and I haven't seen an ant or a bug since we switched. When you first move you think you automatically have to hire a lawn care service, not true. More and more people are starting to do their own.

I agree! Villagers expect a lot for very little money. $50 a month for mowing. If it were mowed every week that would be $12.50 per mowing. Try to get your lawn mowed for that up North. Even the high school kids wouldn't do it for that! People get what they pay for. That is why the mowers go to 10 -14 days for mowing intervals. Since most lawns are not growing properly they feel justified coming less often. It is also the only way they can make some money. I do my own lawn care and with proper fertilization a well growing, zoysia lawn needs to be mown every 5-7 days. This gives you a beautiful, even carpet like appearance when mowed at the correct height. (Zoysia 2 or 2 1/2 inches)

Their work and attitude is so poor. If they spend 10 minutes on your property, guess what type of job they do. If they spent as much time doing their job as they do trying to find excuses it might get better.

True but the yards back home are more like an acre, where here they're more the size of a postage stamp. Yards here are mowed in 10-15 minutes...some even less.

Try your best to get out of your contract and get your money back. You will be VERY happy you dumped them. They are the worst lawn care company in TV...

I would think of the lawn work as my exercise time plus saving me money.

We also have SS and I'm aware of the time and cost of having two workers mow my lawn twice a month but still not happy with service. Last week grass was high enough so their mower woundn't cut it and they did a good bit of it with string trimmer. Two months ago they were supposed to trim shrubs and called and asked if the following week would be ok. I told them sure but we still haven't seen them. Buying wife new mower when contract runs out.

I had a Service Smart guy park in front of my house and walk up to me while I was in the garage. He said that he could help me with the weeds in my shrub beds. I told him that I would never do business with his company. He got insulted and left. Then I just pulled a handful of weeds myself. These guys are despicable.
