Allegiance

The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor's dog, then bites the Governor.
The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie"Bambi" and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.
He calls animal control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the state $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.
He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases.
The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged.
The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.
The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a "coyote awareness program" for residents of the area.
• The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.
The Governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The state spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training re the nature of coyotes.
• PETA protests the coyote's relocation and files a $5 million suit against the state.
TEXAS
• The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.
• The Governor shoots the coyote with his state-issued pistol and keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge.
• The buzzards eat the dead coyote.
And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Texas is not.

I know this supposed to be a joke, but, after living in CA for over 30 years, it seems soooo real! ;)

That may have been true 6 years ago, however, with a change in The Presidency and Governor, California now has a budget surplus and and cooperation by the Executive and legislative branch in solving issues.
You'all got any funny Texas jokes you would like to share?

The surplus to which you refer is a sham.
..."it looks like California Gov. Jerry Brown isn’t going to have to put up too much of a fight to secure his fourth term in the state’s executive office — but one of the biggest signs of the success of his governorship to which he’s constantly pointing for his campaign is a basically fake budget “surplus” of a few billion dollars and an ostensibly “balanced budget” that he supposedly engineered. As David Crane at Bloomberg aptly notes, the state’s progressive Democratic coalition is less about responsible governance than it is about some tricky accounting methods that are in no way an honest portrayal of the state’s tremendously problematic long-term fiscal and economic outlook:"

after living in politically correct California, the Bay area to be exact, for 20 years I could see this happening. I do remember they rescued some baby sea lions, took care of them for some time, costing thousands of dollars. The big day came to release them and when they did a killer whale ate several of them.

They probably used social media to announce the release and the killer whale saw that someone posted it on his Facebook page. I'm surprised after the demise of those sea lions that somebody didn't claim it as a victory toward resolving global warming. Do you know how much CO2 is released by a single sea lion in 1 year? ::jester::

It could of been a great way to sell the excess Dunder Mifflin 5K Fun Run Rabies Awareness T-shirts.

Last time they raised $500, but of course after buying the over-sized check and hiring an actress to accept the check, it only left $340.

Apparently you are not as impressed as some with the turnaround in California's economy. The 8th largest economy in world (bigger than Russia). Take that Putin! :BigApplause:

Contrast that to Kansas which is barely scraping by due to its cut, cut, cut mentality.

Allegiance: Actually I believe you are on point when you make reference to Bambi spurring the beginnings of PETA , etc. Progressives ridicule Divine Design pleading evolution but then do not understand that according to evolutionary naturalrules some species become extinct.
One cause of water shortage in California is attributed to the massive amount of water being used to save the delta smelt .
I forget the location but the massive solar panel project in California is frying birds by the thousand as they fly over and wind turbine project are killing birds of prey by the hundreds. and I have even addressed the millions of dollars taxpayers are paying to keep renewals projects afloat.
